the intro rolling bassline.. i tried many plugins i cant get that sound! not even close.. its an older trance song from 2004.. i wonder how they made it?

 

It's probably a percussion instrument.
And of course a lot of popular drugs in 2004 like methamphetamine, cocaine, crack, speed and several pharmaceutical products.

 

Sounds like a Techno Kick to me, check Riemann samplepacks they may have that, or if you're talking about the synth at 0:42 I'm pretty sure Dune2(paid) or Pneuma Pro(free) have some presets similar to it.

 

it just sounds like two sawtooths detuned, or a saw and square with pulse width being modulated via lfo, fast attack, short decay, no sustain on the Fenv and the Amp can be a short decay or just a gate, only tiny release. If that doesn't do it for you drop the second oscillator down an octave (actually probably do that anyway. then add an arpeggio on 8th notes obviously. you could do this with any decent two oscillator synth, it would be super easy on something like a Juno 106 then add chorus #2 (if you have a 106 emu)

 

damn i love old trance. There are a lot of new artist that are great as well, but nothing hits like those early 2000's songs.

 

psytrance was it for me, from the late 90's and early 00's. I loved all trance but the psychedelic stuff and acid derivatives were the best imho...none of that major key progression sped up house shit, just real trance, or Goa
