[QUOTE="BTW I would like to have some feedback from someone who used extensively Coconut. Does it work? Latency?

I tried the sister site version, but crks don't work in any possible way in any system, they just don't launch.[/QUOTE]

Sometimes it is better to think about purchasing a small mixer, analog or digital.

Matrix did the trick guys, thanks for the suggestion!!

I have had a really bad experience with this. I was once "fooled" by a mixer/interface that looked like a good deal, but it didn't have multitrack support. Of course, it didn't say anywhere that it didn't have multitrack support.

But... why? I can't imagine any scenario where 7 ASIO devices is the good answer. If they're all small i/o, replace with 1 20 channel interface + ADAT ADDA. If you need a gazillion i/o, then the 'aggregate' answer is RME, Antelope, Apollo etc and their manufacturer drivers that allow combining X number of interfaces.

    Well it depends.
Like I had planned my I/O needs right from the beginning and endet up with RME plus 3 converters over light pipe. And yes, that's great, I would totally recommend that if money is not an issue and you can plan long term.
But if someone already has several interfaces and needs to have them combined every now and then, a hack like Matrix could be a viable solution.
Especially if it's not about a paid gig and one can not use new hardware as a tax write-off.

Right, now and then or home utility of a couple randos slapped together makes sense. It was the 7 that stuck out to me. If you're hitting 5,6,7 asio devices you need a used market MOTU intervention.

Audio aggregation is built in MacOS many years now. In short.
It does it by creating a virtual audio device which contains all i/o from connected audio interfaces.
You get to choose a main clock source (very important). MacOs will maintain all other audio interfaces in sync by correcting realtime any time drifts. All i/o from all interfaces will be available in your DAW in a single menu if i recall correctly.
    Cheers
