If you have a second Can I ask your help?
I have read thru posts here and googled for awhile without clarity HOW TO setup multiple instances
of Kontakt portable versions
Can I ask your help in understanding how to setup to folders of portable under C/:user/portable...xxx?
well appreciated !

1. I am running 8.5 and want to add future upgrades.
2. I use DAW Bitwig 5.2 and Windows 11/64
3. I need to access old Bitwig projects that use Kontakt if i change versions.
4. I don't want to lose VST plugin access or RUT licensing (arturia, +++)

do I?
A. create a new 2nd folder and extract the new version into that and some how run future projects from that version?
B. create the 2nd folder , extract and copy SOME (which?) items from the 1st version into the 2nd?
and the DAW responds well?
C. none of the above and other?

I run vkDanilov's portable and I keep separate folders for major releases.

C:\...\Kontakt6
C:\...\Kontakt7
C:\...\Kontakt8

Minor updates I install into those 3 folders, overwriting existing files.

I don't feel the need to migrate my projects to newer versions of Kontakt and I don't mind the 2.0 GiB I'm wasting by keeping older major versions.

So if I understand correctly , overwriting minor updates,
won't cause any losses in a song project i am working on?

Ik agree with Xorome wholeheartedly. And from experience no minor updates don't cause any problems as long as you keep the latest. The other way round does. You can not open a K 8.6 project with K8.3 for example. Ik have K5 K7 and k8 portable installed. I had no need for 6. I have 5 for one library that has graphical issues in later version. Spitfire adagio I believe. Nice thing is if you ever want to use non portable, for example Bob Dules Version, that works too as long as the libraries are registered properly.
