Whilst I don't want to complain about free trial stuff, the BTCR stuff is packaged so badly. With jDownloader, I always get tons of prompt I have to click "OK" on regarding a file in the archive already exists, and is normally the btcr.nfo file. This is painful and takes ages to go through, be it due to the recent Baby Audio stuff or their Reaper releases and so on.

Isn't there a better way BTCR can package this stuff up without having to manually "OK" the prompt so many times within a single release?!

It is this time what feels like a bazillion (even if you check the "don't show again for this archive" box as it seems to be archives within archives within archives or something:

Maybe disable auto-unpack in JDL use some other program for the job?

    7z x archive.rar -y

-y (assume Yes on all queries)
[...] This switch suppresses overwrite queries in the e (Extract) and x (Extract with full paths) commands.

Sounds like a painful medical operation - a "BTCR extraction".

I never use auto-extraction with JDL

I assume this means after first unpack there's a btcr.nfo file and one compressed file (.rar, .7z).
And inside the latter is the same btcr.nfo (?)

If it's the case yep, it's a pain.
    I agree with @xorome 's suggestion.

One more option if JDL auto extract is a must: one could write a JDL EventScript to specifically delete btcr.nfo after every extraction event.

Does anyone know how to extract btcr releases on mac?

I extract the first .zip with either The Unarchiver or Keka, but it doesn't seem to extract the subsequent files, leaving me with an "incomplete" archive file.

:deep_facepalm: Guys... if you're going to post ai responses, at the very least read the first sentence beforehand to be sure it isnt wildly off topic (i.e., @PulseWave, BTCR releases have absolutely nothing to do with Bitcoin).

They are an extra step or two, not a big deal. They are probably a holdover from years ago and are just how they have always done it. It's like setting up each rar archive to fit on a floppy by now though. Outdated and causing extra work all around, including probably for them. Maybe someone knows an upside to it...

Manual un-RAR....every time, for me. Curating the extraction, to me, is an art. lol

You have to first open the zips, then put all of the RARS in the zips into one folder, then open those.

no problem! if you want to make it even easier, make sure all of the zips are in one folder, open them, then use finder's search to search for .rar, make sure you have the folder selected, not "this mac". Once you have all the rars shown, select them all, right click and select "new folder with selection". Then you will have all of the rars in one folder, without having to manually drag them all into one folder.

I'm more than happy to exchange 30 seconds of my life for hundreds of dollars worth of plugins. Absolutely ridiculous post.

BTCR packs its releases very old-school way, probably for nostalgic reasons.
I (granpa) remember when AiR, Arctic, and others used to do it the same way: zips and .nfos within a rar with .nfo files in each zip part which extracted a rar file part. Yes, an archive within an archive, within an archive. So that nobody can easily see what's in it.

BTCR also additionally uses a folder with BTCR pic art that I must admit like. The pics, I mean. Just maybe make new ones from time to time. :)

What xorome said is the key: 7z x archive.rar -y and then gather all the rar file pieces (rar, .r01, .r02...) and just one nfo file. And a pic. :)

keep the rars. easier to maintain and less likely to get deleted by av. only extract when installing. then you can always delete it if you are sure you wont ever want to use it again.
