Isn't it true that lot of those paid websites with stem separation are just based on the same open source algorithms like UVR & like, just (re)packaged differently?

 

Not sure about the algorithms, but Moises.ai exports in 24/48. In my situation, I need a neat, clean packaging with no confusion . . . just upload, select DRUMS, click, export.

 

If you want an even simpler alternative, some X users suggest apps like RipX for similar drum isolation, though it may require additional steps like MIDI conversion. Moises should meet your needs for a clean, click-and-go workflow.

RipX is a solid alternative for drum isolation, but it’s not as streamlined as Moises.ai for your "upload, select drums, click, export" workflow. Here’s a concise breakdown to achieve clean drum isolation with RipX, keeping it as simple as possible, based on your preference for minimal confusion:

1. Upload: Open RipX DAW (DeepRemix or Pro). Drag and drop your audio file (MP3, WAV, etc.) into the interface. The AI automatically analyzes and separates the track into stems.
2. Select Drums: In the Layers Panel, locate the "Drums" or "Percussion" stem (auto-detected). Click the “S” button to solo the drum track. You can mute other layers (vocals, bass, etc.) to focus on drums. For finer control (e.g., isolating kick or snare), RipX can split drums into individual components like kick, snare, and cymbals, but this may require manual tweaking in the Pro version.
3. Export: Go to File > Export, select WAV for high-quality output (up to 24-bit/48kHz, matching Moises.ai Pro). Choose the drum stem only, then export.

Ease of Use: RipX is powerful but less intuitive than Moises.ai. The interface can feel complex, and some users report it’s CPU-intensive and less straightforward for quick tasks. Comparison: Moises.ai is faster and simpler for your needs, with a more user-friendly interface. RipX offers deeper editing (e.g., note-level control, MIDI export), but this adds complexity. If you want absolute simplicity, stick with Moises.ai. If you need advanced drum component separation (e.g., isolating just the snare) and don’t mind a learning curve, RipX is worth trying. For the cleanest experience, ensure your source file is high-quality to minimize artifacts. If RipX feels too involved, alternatives like Lalal.ai or PhonicMind also offer simple drum isolation with comparable ease to Moises.ai.

 

The 12 stem seperator in suno is pretty great! You can just upload your music there and get 12 stems that use their gen algo

 

It uses same - known - publicly available models as many (if not all) other online services but locally.

Try it yourself (if you own an Intel *PU) !

 

Well, Moises.ai is not the answer for me. The quality is good, but after a few hours of splitting I got this message:

Yeah, they are FIRED!! If they do not reinstate within 24 hours I will have my credit card company dispute the charge. There was no warning and when I signed up it said, "unlimited." Fadr, LaLaLa, Suno, mvsep, etc. all process and export at 44.1. So, they are basically UVR with a simple interface. Any other options besides UVR and RipX? Is Spectralayers good, bad, or ugly? I hear very, very mixed opinions and reviews on that software. Is OpenVino worth considering? Export quality?

 

I finally found how to change UVR to 24 bit . . . but still limited to 44.1.

Those "AI plugins for Audacity" (based on the Intel's OpenVINO toolkit) are evolving, anyway they're already pretty competitive (close to Izotope RX 11's quality level to me).
Export quality matches the source one of course.

I have no idea what to do with open source codes . . . wish I could use them to make my own simple splitter, but I cannot.

RX11's separation quality seems to be a tick below others, i.e., Logic, UVR, mvsep, Moises, etc. At least Audacity would allow users to export source . . . not limited to 44.1.

 

In general probably others are bit better than Izotope for separation but I've actually had better results with SOME material with RX11 than UVR. It really depends on the source material. I had some crusty old disco tracks, UVR didn't do so good job, RX11 was actually better. Especially bass instrument for some reason. But I think in general I had better results with UVR, just with few tracks RX did better job
