Hi guys, I have been recently ripped off by a glazing company for over a thousand pounds, to cut a long story short, they are keeping my deposit for no work done, the initialthe salesman promised a refund, so its my word against theirs. Any way in the good old days there was a program called " E-Mail bomb" which would flood a certain email adress with anonymous e-mails, Seeking revenge or any other alternative to discredit this company or cause them problems. Not that I would act on anyones advice, honestly, but it would be nice to know my options.

Hi @jefft, first of all, calm down and don't commit a crime by unleashing your revenge. Instead, use your brain and develop a strategy. First, gather all the data, bank statements, etc., you have about this incident. Write a memo about the incident, including the date, place, and your signature. If it goes to court, have all the information on hand, because you forget a lot of things.

Go to the police and file a complaint for fraud/embezzlement. You may want to consult a lawyer and get advice.

None of the 'good ole days' cult of the dead cow aol bombers kinda stuff works anymore. It can still be done, but now its packaged as a retail service. Does the word 'Monero' mean anything to you? If not, don't even bother trying to find it. Well, you can still do it yourself too but if you're stupid enough in this day in age to not know what you're doing and combine that with setting the script off yourself... you're gonna be out more than a grande.

Does UK not have civil court? The sort where for upto X dollars no lawyers, no legal knowledge needed? Seems alot less effort to show up for a court date for an hour. Assuming you win your deposit back, truth being the absolute defense against libel, then go nuts posting on every review site about the ordeal. Seems a bit more effective than sending 50k emails that the company would never see anyway since you'd actually be ddosing their provider (who also wouldn't be affected unless its literally one computer in a closet).

superglue their fokking locks. they lose hours and money trying to get back in. you might also consider a potato jammed into the salesguy's exhaust pipe, or some sugar in his gas tank.

Not in the UK; if the intent is to harm the business, then even if the review bombing is 'truthful' the intent to harm raises it to an act of intentional libel. Truth is a defense against 'accidental' libel though.

Sucks to be ripped off, but what you're asking for here is illegal.

How are they justifying keeping the deposit when you've asked for a refund?

Anyway, go to a solicitor or call citizen's advice, they'll walk you through how to make a formal complaint to the company, escalate it to local trading standards and take it to small claims court if needed.

Is Charles Bronson still in Hull bin? Probably best not to do anything stupid and find out in person.

I guess you guys are correct, inside I would like to glue their locks and crap in their shop and put sugar in their tanks, but the sensible side kicks in, going down the legal route would be an option , but far too complex for me to handle at the moment, it would revolve round my word against the salesman, who initially lied, but this lie was followed up by his manager who lied, and then the director of the company who obviously will suport his staff. So basically im stuck, the only way forward in my mind is to discredit the company, I know I wont get any cash back from them, but I can stop it happening to other people if they know how bad the company treats its customers.

My dear @jefft, doing nothing is pretty much the stupidest thing to do. Call the press, file a police report. The more people complain and report, the better chance the criminals will be convicted and this company will disappear from the market. Tell me, you don't have a receipt, and you handed him the money. Do you have any witnesses...?

Well, surely you've got proof of the deposit, unless you paid £thousands in cash. Then there must be even some paper trail, emails, texts etc.

That's enough to prove it's not just your word against theirs, as no work has been done.

if you have a proof of everything (emails, bank transfers etc..) but don't want to spend lots of money on lawers, you can play a serious drama queen at reddit+youtube and things will find way to go wild

I am vaguely aware of the stricter standards in the uk, my intent was to suggest they act within those bounds by going through a court first because of those laws. Admittedly, I did not communicate that accurately, heh. You don't need to blast it 'everywhere.' Google and whatever the popular contractors for hire site is in that region will get the eyeballs of most prospective customers.

That seems fairly restrained to me... that said, being familiar with the nitty gritty in certain areas of American law (which we borrowed all its origins from the UKs rulings circa 1600 as the foundation and roots are still to be found in present law), what seems restrained to me has zero bearing on possible batshit application of rule.

Then again OP also posted with no regard to identification in a public forum detailing the problem, region and the intent... so, lets just grab some popcorn and roll the dice.
