I searched the forum, but I couldn't find anything specifically related to this. If this section already exists, I kindly ask the moderators to redirect my post to it.

Hi everyone, I'm here to share, with this community that means so much to me, my deep gratitude to my Nina, who passed away on July 25th at the age of 14 years and 4 months, a victim of what's known as the feline triad.

She was hospitalized for three days and underwent four tests, but I had to discontinue the hospitalization, purchase the medications myself, and bring her home, as the cost had reached the limit of what I could afford.

It truly hurts to witness the suffering of our little brothers and sisters, creatures who love us in such unique ways and dedicate themselves fully to their caretakers. In my case, it hurts even more because I always thought I’d have more time with her, and especially, that at this stage of life I’d be paying for a veterinary plan. But as Lennon said, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.": I had a beautiful daughter, left the capital and moved to the countryside to build a family, seeking a lower cost of living, and even so, I wasn't able to care for her the way I had planned. She passed away at home, surrounded by love from me, my daughter and wife, and she left giving me the famous “kitty kiss” (her eyes gently closing while looking at me).

I leave here my gratitude for this incredibly special being, such a companion through late-night work, stress, and chaos, one who taught us, through her presence, what unconditional love really means. Something spiritualist traditions describe as one of life’s most beautiful experiences and something humans struggle to truly comprehend, and even more so to embody.

Rest in power, with the certainty that you filled me with what is most beautiful in life: love!. I hope you're well, and that your next incarnation is one of joy, love, and serenity, my beloved daughter...

    I feel your pain bruh.
My little one (Lil Bit) passed a little over a year ago but he was only 2 years old.
He had some serious health issues so we had to put him to sleep.
Odd thing is, i was just thinking about him the other night and i still cry about losing him.

Nothing strange about that, bro: It’s a very special connection, rooted in love and one that transcends time and dimensions... Be at peace.

I never had a pet growing up so having lil bit in my life was like having a tiny son covered in fur.
He was 3 pounds of love and joy. Since he passed we do have another teacup yorkie but it's not the same.
He was one of a kind. (to me)

    Sorry for your loss.

Thank you for your beautifully written story about you and your family and your life with the cat.
When loved ones or animals die, the loss and pain make you realize how much you loved them and now miss them.

As an outsider, you can comfort each other and hope that after the mourning period, life will return to normal and you can remember the good times with positive memories. The pain usually subsides after a while, and you understand that everything organic eventually dies but is also reborn.

I once read that when you have an animal, you give a part of your soul to the animal, and in turn, the animal gives a part of its soul.

I have six cats, two turtles and a 200lb Sulcata African plains tortoise. I feel your pain and my heart goes out to you! You said: "She was hospitalized for three days and underwent four tests, but I had to discontinue the hospitalization, purchase the medications myself, and bring her home, as the cost had reached the limit of what I could afford."
Every time I hear someone say something like this I get very angry. Not at them, but at the system. I live in a place with an absolutely huge population, and there are NO, I repeat NO independent veterinarians left here or any where else. They've all been taken over by corporate driven hedge funds that set the prices of pet care so high that only the wealthy can afford it. Apparently the only thing the average person can do to fight back is to contact your congressman, or depending on what country you live in, the person in government that can do something about this travesty. To make animals and people suffer because of their greed is sickening and immoral, and should be a criminal offense. Something has to be done about this monopolization. In truth, it's not only happening to pet care, it's happening to all service businesses, except maybe the food industry. Sorry about my rant, but I'm really saddened and pissed off over this.

It's great that you love shields and hate the pharmaceutical mafia!
In our city there is a group that collects animal feed for those in need.

I just want to say something else; please don't freak out right away. Look at the wild cats that live in the wild.
No veterinarian comes, and if an animal is sick or injured, it's usually eaten by other animals.

My sincere condolences, brother. I know what it feels like to lose a pet.
At one point some years ago we (my houshold) used to have 12 cats and a dog, and a wife. Now I have 5 cats. I'd love to have a dog again as I miss my Paula so much, she was such nice doggo, but I'm not well and afraid I might die before the dog, and worried what would happen to it. I am considering fostering because it's so empty around here. Animals are so much fun and love. They make life more worth living. Caring for them is so good for the soul and they give us unconditional love and joy. I couldn't live a normal life without at least 2-3.

The incredible experience you described with Lil Bit is exactly what I lived with Nina. She came home as a newborn and couldn't even walk properly! She’d start walking slowly, try to speed up, and end up rolling over, falling by herself... it was hilarious! And she just wanted to be on top of me, warming up (she loved lying on my belly or around my neck, and sometimes I’d tuck her inside my shirt to keep her warm). She grew up extremely attached to me, and it stayed that way until the very end...

All the best to you and your loved ones!

Thank you so much for your words, pal, they’re comforting, especially the part about connection. You see, some spiritualist traditions believe that animals have souls that are absolutely pure and that they take part in the process of learning, evolving, and integrating evolutionary experiences alongside us and, at a certain stage of evolution, they might even incarnate as humans! (of course, there’s no scientific proof of this, since those who speak about it are mediums, through psychography).

Objectively, now it's a matter of letting the mourning pass and accepting that the time limitations I had, due to changes in my life, were part of the process, although I don’t feel well right now, because I wish I had spent more time with her. Time will help, as will talking about it. Thank you again.

You are absolutely and irremediably right. Our representatives should be more committed, whether out of duty or simply because they're paid to do so! When access to animal healthcare becomes a privilege only the wealthy can afford, something is profoundly wrong. This is a glaring systemic failure: it silently affects those who need help most, both people and animals. There are indeed legislators who champion animal welfare as a cause, but many are ridiculed by a harsh system driven by corporate interests.

We must increasingly put pressure on our leaders to guarantee dignified, accessible, and compassionate care for the most vulnerable. No one should suffer because of institutionalized greed. Taking care of animals is also taking care of our humanity.

Interesting point... You made me reflect on the difference between what is 'natural' and what is 'necessary' when it comes to animal care. Even with volunteer groups in action, many animals still live under the 'law of the jungle', in a scenario that’s more instinctive than compassionate. But since we live in a society, the lack of public policies to protect them becomes stark evidence. After all, we only discuss this because we coexist with them, otherwise, they’d just be another death statistic.

Animals make better friends than most people.
    Their love is unconditional.
    Their loss is devastating:sad:

SineBRO, you’ve said it all! They teach us daily lessons in love. Every human should, at least once in life, adopt an animal and allow themselves to be deeply moved by this enriching experience. Yes, there are challenges and responsibilities, but there's so, so much love that flows through the entire process, along with many lessons that are almost impossible to put into words... only by living it... and we, with hearts full, can say we’ve been graced to live such a beautiful truth!

Thank you for your kind words, truly from the heart: I wish you lots of health (take care!), prosperity (you clearly show you're an amazing audio guy!), and many years surrounded by your beloved animals and dearest family members.

Yes pal, she rests peacefully and did much more than many humans could have ever done... Remembering the mischiefs that made me laugh uncontrollably, beyond the deepest sense of longing, today awaken my most profound gratitude.

Yes, losing them is truly painful. I'm trying to focus on gratitude and the memories of all the wonderful moments I lived, including her final gestures of affection and presence. Thinking about that reinforces our bond and amplifies this immense feeling of love.

Given Nina’s irreversible condition, I had even placed her name on free biomagnetic healing list. The person who conducted the remote session asked me if she had passed on, and I confirmed, and she told me:

—Let me tell you something: she stayed close to you for a few more hours after the passing, you know? She felt/still feels an immense love for you and didn’t want to leave. She resisted as much as she could, but her health issues were serious, and she rested, full of your love. You gave her an enormous sense of protection, and she trusted you until the very end.

If that’s really how it happened… then the mission was fulfilled!

We have two dogs and now 1 cat (had 3, but two have passed on). Our pets are honestly our kids. The dogs go everywhere with us (which, sure, gives them a little separation anxiety when we aren't around, but we love them to death).

All (well, almost all) pet parents have gone through what you have. It is the toughest part of having a pet. My heart goes out to those of you that lost one not long ago.

But yes, we do ensure they live their best lives.. We don't always do everything right or perfect, but we add several years to their lives and give a love they would never experience out in the wild. But man, anyone that's owned a pet also knows just how much we get out of them.

I just love coming home to my dogs, and I love taking the one out for bike rides. The other one is pretty small - a cockapoo - and more attached to my wife, but we just love that guy so I empathize with @Soul1975 as a fellow dad of a little dog. There's something about them being so fragile that you just can't help but want to protect them from everything... As I said, he's really attached to my wife but it is going to actually crush the hell out of me when he goes. Ditto the big dog (border collie) but I know she will handle anything that ever comes her way, including crossing the rainbow bridge.

    Anyways, my condolences!

In my neighborhood, there are many older people who have dogs, so they have to go outside several times a day to get outside and exercise. It's also a great way to connect with other dog owners. So, you talk to each other.

My friend is a taxi driver. After suffering from back pain, she bought a dog, and since then, she's been feeling much better and is happy with her dog. Only nature heals us. We rarely have guide dogs in the big city, and of course, drug-sniffing dogs, and our police also have dogs to track and detect criminals and traces.

I have an aquarium with fish, three squirrels, two pigeons, and songbirds that come by every day for food. I buy 25 kg of black sunflower seeds every year. In winter, I also have hazelnuts and walnuts.
