Time for a new thread. Very exciting. Just a teaser for now.

cool! i love bitwig. I use ableton as my daily driver, but still use bitwig often enough that i bought it. my update has passed, but depending what they offer i will likely buy the next version.

who cares for bitwig in times where ableton made more progress in the last 3 iterations than the whole bitwig in his lifetime?

midi tools alone are a big win for ableton, dont even speak about max 4 live...

bitwig made no real progress on the midi editing - which is so essential. at least for me.

theoretically, the whole development is about keeping the ex-FL now Bitwig users from jumping ship, so the piano roll is the centerpiece — and what's shown in the image falls into the 'and something else' category

The whole 'this is bad because I think (I'm not sure) it doesn't focus on the stuff that matters to me' argument is starting to get old.

It was posted on their Instagram, not even the main page. Sneaky. No other info for now. Just this tease so nothing to link really.

For me this is the sixth year of joining this club!! I had to think twice about whether I wanted to participate in this club for another year because I think there's been very little innovation in MIDI. On the other hand, I do think this club deserves promotion because they're good guys who know what they're talking about. I think they've gone a bit overboard with their "grid" stuff. If nothing happens AGAIN in BW 6 regarding MIDI, like MIDI comping and retrospective MIDI, I'll definitely give up and switch to Ableton.

    bitwig being marketing geniuses!

they should go a few streets in berlin and ask ableton how to do marketing.

To each their own. Use the DAW that works for you.

Personally I don't go over to Live threads and tell people there: Who cares about Live when xyz. . . . but I guess you need to do that for some reason. :dunno:

I'm a long time Ableton user and lover and it's my main axe, and yet, there are still things Bitwig does better, like MIDI routing which you'd think would be fairly key for any kind of MIDI manipulation. Max4Live is a powerful tool for sure, but not everyday I want to put on my engineering hat and deal with raw MIDI messages and then be faced with the problem of sending the reconstituted MIDI to arbitrary destinations without external tools. Which would be easier in Bitwig.

So yeah, even among us Ableton users there are us who think Bitwig has a valid place and a reason for existing.

That's funny—That's like saying FL Studio is better than them both, even though Image-line's recent updates has made more progress than both of these softwares.

Let everyone rock with their Digital Audio Workstation of choice...

When a DAW adds things I like, I guess I can call it progress. But when they add stuff I don't care for, I call it bloat.

the nexts one is the PR related, so there will be something for everyone, like clip aliasing, themes, visual guidlenes etc. so BitXmas time ( I wouldn't think ARA2 is possible, but not sure) yepp slicing audio directly in Sampler would be warmly welcomed

    I care.
Use what suits you best. This is nonsense discussion. I was a long time Ableton user, using it since 5, and would never go back from Bitwig. For me the way Bitwig features sandboxing to isolate plugins from the audio engine was a game changer. Don't know if Ableton have implemented this yet or if they have this in sight, but would be nice! Also, m4l really rocks, but we got Grid, which is also really powerful.

The per-note modulation on .clap devices inside xy devices(layering) is still hard to recreate in other DAWs — I wouldn’t be keen to switch either

It can be done, but by the time you're done, you're completely out of the flow — whereas in BWS, you stay in it ... in Bitwig, modulation is a first-class citizen — in most other DAWs, it's at best second-rate.
    or another xmple
