That's great news if I can stop losing money to Paypal. I'm more than happy to give the Paypal share to Bandcamp even. The worst thing about Paypal is that in my country, they got rid of the balance. So not only I need to wait for Bandcamp to transfer to Paypal, I also need to wait until Paypal transfers to my bank with their absolutely terrible exchange rates.

By the way, is anyone able to update their details? The link they provide just goes to an error page that says, "We regret to inform you that something odd happened."

Guess I'll be waiting for a while to get rid of it.

Bandcamp is amateur hour overpriced constraining leecher shite IMO, but, still I am extremely happy about this news!

PP has notoriously locked or banned accounts for no valid reasons and stolen money from millions of people around the world, including myself, when my account was issued their infamous automated "banned for life" just for checking my balance while on tour trying to confirm a show fee was paid! The customer service was a complete disaster. I was never able to recover that money. Unfookinbelievable these people. Paypal can do one!

Never had any such issues with Stripe on the other hand, and they also do crypto. Not that I will be using BC anytime soon, this bit of news made my day if not my week :hifive:

This actual a good step. PP is a major way of paying in the internet today.
And if you dont offer it, you are falling behind or missing out on people wanting to use bandcamp, but want to use PP for that.

Not trying to defend PayPal but I've seen this repeated so many times in so many communities and it's always people doing business on a personal account. And then they get mad once they get caught.

 Nope. I had a proper business account with TIN's. 100% legit. My only recourse was small claims track in court, which would have cost me 10 times what they stole from me. They know this and don't give a shit about small fish. This isn't a unique or rare situation, anyone who tours or signed with international labels knows, should know or will soon find out, about it. Do a search and see for yourself the literal millions of people who've also been screwed over by these crooks. I only use Stripe + crypto now and never had any problems.

For me it's bad, Bank didn't see what was in my PayPal account until I made a money transfer to my Bank account, not good.

@80085MAN What I wrote is true, the bank sees what you send from PayPal to your bank account, that's why I never do it, what I earn on PayPal stays there, for example to buy a DAW upgrade. I don't run any business.

 weird reply dude. Of course the bank sees the amount you send from PP to your account, its called a deposit, no matter where it comes from PP Stripe, Google, Crypto, a bag of pennies or whatevs, they will see the amount you deposit, its common sense, basic math and accounting, so I don't understand your bizarre logic with this :dunno:

The bank does not see how much money you have in your other accounts, gateways, crypto or whatever's. Its absurd to think they have access to that data. Do they also know how much money is tucked under your mattress?

But anyways, the point is, Paypal has proven over decades they are not a trustworthy financial institution. Don't trust my word, read the countless horror stories from millions of others. Leaving your money there is a huge risk. They can freeze your funds and ban you from accessing your accounts instantly for any number of reasons they deem necessary, without giving any prior notice or recourse to recover you funds. On top of that your balance is earning them money, not you. It is literally the worst possible place to keep your money. If you travel internationally, or deal with international clients, you are putting yourself and your money at extreme risk by using PP. It is not a matter of IF, but WHEN it will happen to you. That is a fact.

BC + Stripe, with all they offer, is great news for all indie artists and labels. Hopefully, all other stores follow this trend. Educate yourself on the topic and find out for yourself :winker:

PayPal for paying for stuff or receiving some money here and there is fine. The service works and is reliable. I've had my account for almost 20 years, I think, never had any issues either. It only becomes terrible when you're relying on it for your business, because they really suck you dry in fees and will make you bend over if you're scammed by a client, a fairly common thing when you are using it for commissions...
