try Korg Polysix. preset Analog 106 Bass.

yup, I cheated. But then you are also cheating, when you think about it that way...

    bassline in this track:

    ChatGPT said:

What synth made this bass line? (Reddit discussion)

Here’s a standout Reddit thread where users dug into exactly this bassline—and uncovered a likely match:

“The preset is from the Korg Polysix VST, called Analog 106 Bass from the “Bass” presets.” elektronauts.com+6reddit.com+6reddit.com+6

    What this tells us
    • This is most likely not a vintage hardware synth. Instead, it seems to be a software recreation—specifically a preset in a Korg Polysix virtual instrument.

    • That said, it’s ambiguous whether the track producer used the actual Polysix VST or mimicked the sound using another plugin or sampler.

    • Some Redditors speculated about real hardware like the ARP 2600, Minimoog, or Roland System 700, but none of that was conclusive reddit.com+1forums.musicplayer.com+1.
    My take
    • Sound characteristics: The bass has that classic analog warmth and slight chorus-style movement—something the Polysix excels at.

    • If you’re aiming to recreate or tweak this sound, the Analog 106 Bass preset in the Polysix VST is a great starting point.

    • Want to go hardware? You could explore vintage analog monosynths with similar voicing—but matching the preset's exact character will take some tweaking.
    ✅ TL;DR
The bassline you hear almost certainly came from the Korg Polysix VST, using the Analog 106 Bass preset. Want tips on how to reproduce or tweak it yourself? Just let me know!

hahah! the reddit info is, yes. But did you try the patch it recommended? It sounds very close to me. Start around C2, and it is very much in the ballpark.

I auto sampled 2 octaves of it in Logic: https://workupload.com/file/nRjjyYs4wRc

In this Video there is a Oberheim DMX Drumaschiene
Propaganda "Dr.Mabuse" (RTL Chartshow Edit) + Interview

Take the GForce - Oberheim DMX VST3. www.gforcesoftware.com/products/dmx/

The DMX is a programmable digital drum machine manufactured by Oberheim. It was introduced in 1980 at a list price of US$2,895 (equivalent to $11,000 in 2024) and remained in the company's product line until the mid-1980s.

The Oberheim DMX was the second digital drum machine ever to be sold as a commercial product, following the Linn LM-1 Drum Computer in 1980. Its popularity among musicians of the era contributed to the sound and evolution of 1980s new wave, synth-pop and hip hop music. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oberheim_DMX

I think the Bass ist the Synclavier...!

Stephen then used all of that technology, including a Synclavier digital sampling instrument, to create the sound of the band, starting each track with as little as some lyrics and chords and a vision that, according to him, came more from Morley than anyone else…

Too many keys to be a Wavestate, right? Wavestate is only 3 octaves. It could be a Wavestate SE, depending on the date of the video. Video is 3 years old, gpt: announcement came in mid‑2023, retail availability began in August 2023, at least in Europe (e.g. Thomann lists the model as available since August 2023)

One poster on the YT video seems to feel differently about it:
