I've never used the software version, but the sequencer on the hardware version is super fun and very useful...curious if the soft synth even has it. Either way it's one of the most fun synths I've ever owned, and I've owned plenty.

Together I enjoy playing with Pigments and Polybrute on the same midi channel using the Polybrute's myriad of physical modulators and am experimenting with trying to create patches who sums are greater than the whole. Polybrute then gets my vote.

 

I seem to be a minority here, but OP-Xa-V always seems to produce sounds that inspire when I don't know what I want, and the right patch when I DO know what i want. Frankly I don't really care whether it's completely authentic or not (probably not since it's an amalgam of several OB's), it just suits my style.

 

You can’t go wrong with Pigments, it’s one of the few best choices and very versatile… it even sorta has a spectrum of elements across the Arturia ecosystem and should be the first plugin instrument from them you can buy if possible
