Hi, what's the best way to properly update a cracked plugin? Should I uninstall the old version first, or just install the new one over it? Is there a recommended method? Thanks.

 

Generally, remove ALL.... traces of prior.

Too many posts of issues where the ultimate issue... is that user has not done housekeeping so to speak.

Use everything + ccleaner or similar.

 

Sometimes teams use different folders for their releases, so if you go from team A to team B, I'd uninstall the old version first, or you might end up with a bit of a mess of duplicated plugins and orphaned files. The included nfo/txt instructions usually tell you if uninstalling is required. Never had an issue just updating without uninstalling first - if the release is from the same team and it's just a minor update and the instructions don't mention anything.

 

I just install it without uninstalling the previous version, and I don't recall having any problems. But, most of the time I use R2R's plugins, so I am not sure about other teams' releases.

 

if it's from same team and same method, then just update over previous and sometimes re-crack

 

It will depend on the plug-in. Usually cracked updates will have specific instructions as to whether you need to obliterate your previous install or not. Generally you don't.
