You def dont need to pay for the actual full on Developer ID... I didnt and it worked once I did what i said in the post above.
You can always try the fully manual way

I got Spectralayers 12 by doing what done84 did. The new updated script didn't work - simply because of zero information on what 'source file' was supposed to be. To do this I installed the latest SL12 installer AND patch (you have to allow in security settings), installed the steinberg licence manager from their website, then ran the above commands one at a time (like done84). I found you have to be offline when running SL12 or it doesn't work and you have to do it all again. But, working 100% M4 Sequoia without touching SIP

EDIT: If you deny everything with little snitch it's fine too

    Thanks for your reply
I've followed all steps, the only differences was were I have to choose 'use system standard’ because I didn't see that option, instead it was ‘use system default’
The thing is that after running the command in terminal SL12 still doesn't work with SIP enable
I'll double check the manual way to see what am I missing

PS: what's the order (sequences) of steps to get this working?
    Mine was:
    1. Installed the crack from the sister site S(pectraLayers_Pro_v12.0_Installer_mac) that comes with a Patch that requires SIP disable
    2. Then I follow your instructions modifying the cubase patch to SpectraLayer 12
    3. Installed the provided certificates
    4. Run The modified Patch command didn't work
    5. I create my own Certificate following instruction, but here I encounter a problem (I guess) in Xcode I don't have ‘use system standard’ option, it's ‘use system default’ instead. So I "Trust" everything in there and got a "Certificate" (not with a green check but a Blue + sign)
    6. I run the SpectraLayer 12 Patch command again but didn't work either
    Is it right?

    Thanks again

Correct, no idea what is the 'Source file' I used the SpectraLayers file located within SpectraLayers 12>Contents>MacOS>SpectraLayers but not sure if this could be the reason it didn't worked for me
Beside that what about the steps from scratch, are they any relevant? I would say yes, so ere the steps I took OK?

PD: I've tried once Little Snitch but it was too complicated for my knowledge in security/firewall and the like so I removed it. But if it that useful to get this SL12 running with SIP enable, I'll give it a try> But didn't work as well

You order is messed up... First, handle everything related to the certificate... I advise making your own.
Yes, I had to pick "Use System Defaults", (afaik) this that's just a small terminology change in between MacOS versions.
You need a green check, like so:
Initially, my certificate was expired so i had to go into XCode > Preferences > Accounts, unfortunately i don't remember what I did there but it clearly said 'expired' so I guess I pressed "Manage Certificate" and followed instructions or deleted and made a new one.

As far as SpetraLayers I installed the VR one that comes with a patching app, installed it normally, used the app it came with, and it did not work, then used this script (modified of course, keep in mind i had to drag the folder that has the binary inside of the SpectraLayers.app, not just the app itself) then finally re-run the manual commands for the "Activation Manager" folder and it worked.

Little Snitch is the most user-interaction dependent of the most commonly used mac software firewalls. It takes a bit of getting used to and configuring all the rules you want can be time consuming when you first start using it.

If you are going to skip it, get LuLu free software firewall. The current version has many of the "missing features" added which make it much closer to being a real alternative to Little Snitch. https://objective-see.org/products/lulu.html

But if all you really care about is plugins and programs not being able to phone home, get a copy of Radio Silence from sister site. It doesn't get any easier. You should be using at least one of them to block your DAW and plugins. SIP enabled or not.

    Thanks
I've installed Little Snitch and let it run in "default mode" I guess it's called Silent mode or something
But SpectraLayers is still not working with SIP enabled. I'll get back to the command and Certificate thing and see what luck I get and also try Lulu as well

    Thanks again

    Thanks again for your feedback
It'll be too much to ask what steps I should follow?

According to your experience First is installing VR as it comes and then do the Script
I guess that's what I did but not sure anymore

BTW the binary is the Source, that's the file located when you open Show Package Contents right?
I'll uninstall and started again with this two steps but before I'll try to get my Certificate right, maybe that's enough

    Thanks again

I deleted my certificate from the Keychain, but I can't delete it from Xcode so I uninstalled Xcode and see what I can do from there

You can do this from Terminal. You don't need to install the full Xcode GUI for more basic functions. But you should not delete it entirely if that is what you did.

    xcode-select --install

how to delete pki certificates in xcode via terminal
    ChatGPT said:

To delete PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) certificates from Xcode (or more specifically, the macOS Keychain, which Xcode uses for signing), you can do so via the Terminal using the security command.

Step-by-Step: Delete a Certificate via Terminal
    1. List Certificates
First, list all the certificates so you can identify the one you want to delete:

    bash
    security find-certificate -a -p /Library/Keychains/System.keychain

    Or for your login keychain:

    bash
    security find-certificate -a -p ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db

    To include names:

    bash
    security find-certificate -a -c "" /Library/Keychains/System.keychain

You can filter by common name:

    bash
    security find-certificate -a -c "Apple Development" ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db

    2. Delete the Certificate
Once you've found the common name (CN) or label of the certificate, delete it using:

    bash
    security delete-certificate -c "Certificate Common Name" ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db

    Examples:

    bash
security delete-certificate -c "Apple Development: Your Name (Team ID)" ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db

Or for system keychain (you may need sudo):

    bash
sudo security delete-certificate -c "Example Root CA" /Library/Keychains/System.keychain

Optional: Clean up expired or duplicate certs
If you want to clean out expired certificates:

    bash
    security find-certificate -a -e ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db

Then delete them one by one using security delete-certificate with the fingerprint or common name.

    ✅ Notes:
    • -c filters by common name.

    • You can use -Z to find by SHA-1 fingerprint, and then delete with -Z <fingerprint>.

    • Xcode sometimes caches provisioning profiles and certificates; restart Xcode after changes.

    • For full removal of signing identities (including private keys), you might also want to check security find-identity.
Let me know if you need to delete specific kinds like intermediate CAs, private keys, or code signing identities—those use slightly different flags.

To clear or delete all PKI certificates related to Xcode (or in your keychain) via Terminal, here's a focused and minimal step-by-step:

Delete All Apple Code Signing Certificates from Login Keychain
    bash
    security delete-certificate -c "Apple Development" ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db
    security delete-certificate -c "Apple Distribution" ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db
    security delete-certificate -c "iPhone Developer" ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db
    security delete-certificate -c "iPhone Distribution" ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db

Run each one for the certificates you have. Repeat with the correct names if they differ (you can list them using the command below).

    List Certificates (Optional)
    bash
    security find-certificate -a -c "Apple" ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain-db
