New Kontakt - Old Projects - No clue on what library was loaded

    I messed up. I reinstalled a friends audio PC due to bloat. I still have all the old librarys working in a new shiny Kontakt. The issue I have is when I open old (cubase) project, it shows Kontakt as missing. So I can replace that plugin with the new version - all good... except....
    It does not show me what Kontakt library it was using. And I am stuck...

    Does anyone know how I can find out what Kontakt library was being used in the old version?
    Or is there a way to find what version of Kontakt was being used so I might going hunting for it?

    This is for an elderly musician(83) who does not use good naming conventions. The tracks just say Kontakt. I have already started teaching how to bounce tracks and add notes to a track but it is not going to happen, they are too old school and just want to "make music and not do admin" :D. I have 200+ songs to sort out.

    Any help is appreciated. No good deed goes unpunished pah.

    Hmm... Do you know when the last working project was saved (proj file details should give you that info obvs)? Because you can have multiple version installed side by side, if me, I would go back and install each previous version and try those e.g., v8, v7, v6.. hopefully one of those auto-recalls the correct library and preset for the track(s). If you know around the time frame the songs were last saved, cross reference release dates and that'd help you narrow down the version he used.

    If it says Kontakt is missing and not Kontakt5 or kontakt 7 it is Kontakt v6 that is missing. The only Kontakt version that had no number in its name. I would use Kontakt 6 portable, because of its great library manager.

    It really is better to name all your tracks with the plugin name and patch.Updates can kill old projects.

    omiac and secret world that is perfect - v6 matches the dates of the projects too - so that's exactly what I shall try. Thank you so much. Version 6 does not display its number - how beautifully inept. This has saved me a lot of tears. Mr Dule has version 6 portable so thats sorted!!! Here goes my next few weeks.

    I was worried that my post would be off tracked by lots of people telling me "best practices" and "you should have"s... I appreciate your answers more than I can express. Actually positive and helpful. You are a dying breed! Just try and ask for help on installing omnisphere... lol

    edit: It WAS Kontakt 6 portable used. Everything is back thank you so much!!!
