Parallels provides software virtualization, very mediocre at best, because on Apple Silicon architecture you end up with Windows 11 for ARM which then relies on additional Microsoft's subpar x86 emulation,

if you want a Windows laptop, then MacBook with Parallels will not deliver.
if you want to try MacBook for a reasonable price, then go for it - but forget about Windows and Windows plugins/instruments

Is an 8GB modern laptop dGPU good enough for video editing? Are you doing intense fluid dynamics simulations, complex 3d modeling, or just basic video editing? What you're doing with the CPU/GPU combo really matters lmao.

If you're asking questions like that I would highly recommend doing a lot of research about hardware specifications and capabilities.

It would be very helpful if you shared the model of laptop you're considering.

Windows laptops can be great hardware, with terrible build quality/peripheral components. Usually that's where the money is being saved.

Also check out Jarrod's Tech on YouTube and see if he's reviewed a similar model to what you're looking at. He does extremely deep reviews of laptops where he tests basically every single parameter of the device.

You don't specify 1080p, or 4K or 8K video. There is a significant jump in performance requirement between even 4K and 8K.
    What ai says:
General System Requirements for 8K Editing

    • CPU: Intel Core i9 or AMD Ryzen Threadripper (minimum 12 cores, 16+ cores recommended)
    • RAM: 64GB minimum, 128GB or more for complex timelines
    • Storage: NVMe SSDs (PCIe 4.0 or higher) for project files and cache, RAID setups for optimal performance
    • Operating System: Windows 10/11 Pro or macOS (latest versions)
    GPU Recommendations

For GPU-accelerated effects, rendering, and real-time playback, NVIDIA's professional GPUs are highly recommended:
    • RTX A6000 ADA / L40S: Ideal for high-end 8K workflows with 48GB GDDR6 memory
    • RTX A5000 / A6000: Excellent for multi-stream 8K editing with 24GB/48GB VRAM
    • A100 (80GB PCIe): Best for AI-enhanced workflows and large-scale color grading
    • H100 PCIe / NVL: Top-tier performance for real-time 8K processing and AI denoising
    Adobe Premiere Pro Specific Requirements

Premiere Pro relies heavily on GPU acceleration for effects and playback:
    • GPU: NVIDIA RTX A-series or GeForce RTX 30/40 series with at least 12GB VRAM (24GB+ preferred)
    • Codecs: ProRes RAW, REDCODE, and H.265 require high-end GPUs for smooth decoding
    • Storage Bandwidth: 1GB/s+ read speeds for 8K media
    DaVinci Resolve Specific Requirements

DaVinci Resolve is highly GPU-dependent, especially for Fusion and color grading:
    • GPU: Multiple GPUs (such as dual RTX A6000 or A100) recommended for real-time 8K grading
    • VRAM: Minimum 16GB, 24GB+ for noise reduction and temporal effects
    • Storage: Fast RAID arrays or NVMe storage for optimal playback
    Additional Considerations

    • Display: A high-resolution 4K or 8K reference monitor with HDR support
    • I/O: Thunderbolt 3/4 or 10GbE for fast external storage access
    • Cooling: Adequate cooling for sustained high-performance workloads
For the best experience, a workstation with an NVIDIA RTX A6000 ADA or H100 PCIe GPU, paired with a high-core-count CPU and fast storage, will ensure smooth 8K editing and grading in both Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve.
