I couldn't care less personally. There's actually only one reason for me updating/adding anything and that's when it's forced on me by a Windows version change every few years (my main machine is still running W10). I have a testing partition that I do try new stuff out on and if after a while it becomes a favourite and is stable/efficient I may integrate it into the main system, otherwise I leave it well alone. I've actually reached the point now though where, rather than posting a Plzzzzzzzzzzz begging comment I'd be more likely to post a: FFS, PLZZZZZZZZZZZ DON'T POST ANY MORE FUCKING RELEASES, I CAN'T STAND IT ANY LONGER, I HAVE SO MANY PLUGINS I DON'T KNOW WHAT HALF OF THEM ARE AND NEED AN EXTRA 48 HOUR DAY A WEEK JUST TO TRY THEM ALL. I CAN'T TAKE IT ANY MORE, I DON'T NEED 95% OF THEM. TAKE ME AWAY AND TIE MY ARMS UP SO I CAN'T OPERATE A MOUSE ANY MORE. HELP, GET ME OUT OF HERE. SOS, MAYDAY, MAYDAY. Phew, apologies for that, I don't know what came over me there.
Funny. I’ve seen plenty of win begging this year, but I’ve never seen a single “mac plz”. Why? Because I stick to /software/mac/. But yeah you’re deluded if you think it doesn’t happen.
A little tutorial for the dickheads who ask for charity... For transgressors: Foster will enter your nightmares every night and punish you.
i can tell you, that mac plz happens way often than win plzzz. I check win and mac releases. I agree that as the styrnm reverb dropped, i saw a few win plzz comments. (Well R2R did a lot of ilok stuff for windows only, so yeah there was really not much, what a windows user could have wanted.) like i wrote above, if see begging/request comments, i quickly report them and then just move on.
It lets the Mac releasers know what a good job they are doing to see so many Windows users whining about this. It's going to get worse.
It's just a shame that anyone feels entitled enough to ask for any of this stuff. You get what is made available to you. End of story.
That is an interesting viewpoint, because there is an entire section of the sister site dedicated to nothing but formal requests; but they should be more just suggestions anyway. The most outright rude, ignorant place to make a request is in someone's release comments. It doesn't even need to be for a different platform, and people even do it with samples, education videos, anything you name if it is shared. The comment will be like "thanks, but what about (other thing)...?" That is the pinnacle of entitlement, and you will probably notice it happens way more often than any of these "win/mac please" comments. Other sites don't put up with any of these comments about anything other than the release. "Click the thanks button instead of replying." A comment count above zero means someone will check it out, usually wasting the moderators' time. Last edited: Jun 25, 2025 at 10:11 PM
