Tons of great, small and useful utilities there. Kinda like Sysinternals-NirSoft-Puran utilities. Very useful!

    Thanks! @orbitbooster

I may consider tiny wall so long as it works well, hosts is unchanged since I haven’t saved it yet so I’d just have to figure out how to block with it

When you install something from the sister site, the NFO always tells you what to do.
If it says to block with the HOST file, you should do it, and if it says to block with the FIREWALL, you should do it too.

Share your HOSTS file here --> https://audiosex.pro/threads/share-your-hosts-file-here.20960/

Default Hosts File in Windows In Windows 10, the hosts file is located under %windir%\system32\drivers\etc, as in previous versions. On a freshly installed system, it only contains entries for localhost and commented-out lines with names from the acme.com domain. Editing it requires administrative privileges. Therefore, in companies, it will remain inaccessible to most users. Editing the hosts file is more of a concern for IT professionals or developers who have a useful application for it.

Examples - Allways: 127.0.0.1 Spaces then the Adress

    127.0.0.1 register.waves.com
    127.0.0.1 license02.sonible.com
    127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com

Also if Windows Defender comes with a warning after edit the host file..

    SettingsModifier:Win32/
    PossibleHostsFileHijack

..set it to an allowed warning!

I using Notepad3 as editor. Starting with admin privileges, edit the host file, save and set as read-only in Notepad3.

Yours just happened to be the last one saying this at the end of chain when I commented. I have no doubt you haven't. Running it as Admin is the most common 'solution' if you can't directly open as there is nothing wrong with the privileges or directories if you can do that. It will not solve permissions, ownership, directory writes, etc if access rules are not correct. Even if its fine today, an OS update that touches that directory chain can and once in a blue moon does overwrite the settings. Had to reset permissions on a machine just the other month because of that.

Run notepad as administrator click File, Open... go to C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc folder
Then select All Files (*.*) in the drop down box to show the hosts file,
right click the hosts file, click Properties and un-tick Read-only, click Apply, OK,
then double click the hosts file and add what you wish to block e.g.

    127.0.0.1 overloud.com
    127.0.0.1 www.overloud.com

Then click file, Save As... select save as type: All Files (*.*) click the hosts file, save (replace yes)
After saving the hosts file, change it back to Read-only
