Well according to this thread someone already tried to buy it, and it didn't work anyway, so likely you won't even be able to buy it yet.

 

There are 2 options:

• You pay for the plugin, the transaction goes thru, but no download link is delivered: this is called scam
• You pay for the plugin, but the transaction is refused: this means that probably website is unattended and plugin is abandonware

 

Now, that we managed to shed some light onto this topic, do we have any hero who will tell us where to get the ROMs? I have a feeling they may be useful one day.

Excuse me. What is fake about that SoS cover? That is the legit magazine cover from March 1992 - I just checked at muzines.co.uk.

And the headline "Kurzweil's Killer K2000 Synthesizer" means "Kurzweils's own hit product", not "something that killed Kurzweil". I can see no fake hint in using that image nor in the accompanying text.

 

Your screenshot has the date of 2025-06-20 (that's yesterday), but the plugin's version is only 0.6.5. Does this mean that is the most recent version you tried? 0.6.5 would suggest early alpha, not something ready to be released. (Of course we don't know how long ago you got that version...)

 

I got that version sometime in 2022. I loaded it into my daw and took that screenshot 6-20, after seeing many people's suspicions

 

If you have any contact with the dev, we would be very thankful if he revealed any plans regarding the future of this project. As of today, his website has been cleared of any content...

Just some observations, because I've watched this thread until now...

• It seems nobody has managed to get a copy. Whether this is a scam or not is conjecture because downloads are not working which could be any number of reasons. Normally, most people do not release a product live for sale until it can be purchased. It does not mean it is or is not a scam, it just means it is not ready and not working properly.
• Did anyone manage to acquire a copy? Not as yet. Therefore, while it certainly seems like bullshit on the surface, it might be they just did not setup their site properly which does happen.
• Did they get all the necessary purchasing options in place? No. So again, it seems that it might not be legitimate, or not approved or the last, that they got a takedown order directly from Kurzweil.
• Is the site well made? Definitely not enticing to make you run out and buy it. It does not mean it is not, or was not legitimate depending on circumstances, though it does give the feeling to be cautious.

LAST - if someone manages to get a copy, or gets ripped off, then and only then we know what is true and what is not. Anything else is speculation.

 

Yes, and I have a hard time making any sense of the "99% K2x compatibility" claim on his former web page, then his recent reply indicating that there actually have been downloads and license keys but K2V/K2500V was far from a proper release make me wonder even more.
I don't think he's a bad guy. I see a respectable number of interesting repositories on https://github.com/psobot and some serious reverse engineering attempts like the one described here: http://blog.petersobot.com/patching-the-k2500, but I wish he was more clear about the status of this project.
