Well, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt with some grace as perhaps it's a translation problem, but s-clogging the thread with this kind of thing doesn't really make one wonder why the creator of this great utility in Fred Bloggs is not as active in either answering or fixing things, as your replies there made little sense to me and others.

Ok, that isn't clear to me, we don't know what you used previously. Therefore, we can't aid you on this lacking more specificity.

And this could be due to either something lost in translation, in an admission to having not following the thread, the faq's, the information, and offers of help here, or your not "even finish to develop your problems" (?), or perhaps petulant and rude, and perhaps some comment regarding something about not telling 'you' anything 'bout education'.

I did not say you were not educated, just apparently you are not in some respects on both how this utility and other aspects of how this all works, or given the nature of your response, and how one generally receives going about asking for specific help on this site.

People like to help here. That's what we do. But there is a bare modicum of information, communication, and decorum asked for that in return.

You are an admin user, but you will need to add your admin password to the Apple Keychain for this function to work !

 

What issue? iirc, upon running KLU2 for the first time, it asked for my cpu login pw on a computer I am an admin on, and I gave it, as I read Fred Blogg's KLU2 manual, text files, and thread comments regarding it.

Never been a problem or an issue... perhaps if you ignored that on first boot, and for some reason there is no way to add it now, I would just reinstall KLU2 I'd imagine...

Hi guys, searched the entire forum for the term "Load Category File" and found no results. Could anyone explain how this works in KLU 2.4? The button would be super useful, but it doesn't seem to do anything. A feature request would be the ability to export the example category file as a .csv so it can be modified, them imported back in with the changes. That would make it easier to bring in categories across multiple computer setups (and just easier to modify altogether in google sheets)

Edit: A "Location" field would be awesome since I am sure many of us store libraries across both internal and external drives. I like to sort my libraries by this first so it does not look so sparse when my external drives are disconnected... then it would be great to sort by instrument category, etc.

Just checking this out and I've dropped a folder from an external to the NICNT drop area and it's telling me "It seems likely this library is not installed"

When I click on the button to install this library in Kontakt, that UI element gets lighter and then nothing happens. I've tried many folders for libraries with the same result. Have read the docs for Version 2.4.0, so:

The 3rd party libraries are on an external drive and some libraries there show as already installed within Kontakt (7). Anything else I can try to get that button to work, or should be doing?

 

How have you installed libraries previously?

I've never seen the "It seems likely this library is not installed" dialog. And if I did I would imagine it was from a bad source and redownload it etc... be sure to "remove" the nicnt from your library in KLU2 first, or perhaps try that now and try again.

All of my libraries are on external ssd's. And still using HCiSO 7.10.x latest.

Are the libraries that are "showing" added with some other tool or utility or are they libraries that do not require licensing from draconian NI bullshit etc?

 

Edit: will just delete kontakt and just keep using legit software and stock daw devices. Can't buy them all, so just wanted to try some libraries a bit longer before buying and this is too much runaround. Appreciate the help though

Hello to everyone and to Fred. I would like to apologize in advance for my English.

I am also experiencing this strange behavior. Additionally, I get the following error when I try to change the SNPID: "Sorry! I had a problem doing this. A permissions problem, maybe?" I don't actually need to change the SNPID, but since it mentions a permission problem, I think it might be important.

About my setup: I'm using an M3 Max MacBook Pro with MacOs version 15.5, Kontakt 7.7.0 by HCiSO, and KLU version 2.4.0 (version 1.1 doesn’t work at all — I receive a message about an OutOfBounds exception and the app crashes immediately). I want to install three libraries: Noire, Cinematic Studio Brass, and Cinematic Studio Strings. These libraries are from Rutracker.

I have a Service Center folder inside the Main Library (although I created it manually). This folder is completely empty — there are no XML files. It used to contain XML files from Arturia and Waves, but I removed them. Also, I don’t have any .plist files in the Preferences folder that refer to Kontakt libraries.

I’ve tried reinstalling both Kontakt and KLU, but that didn’t help. I've also re-downloaded all the listed libraries, but that didn’t resolve the issue either.

I've used Permission Reset 2.app to reset permissions for KLU, Kontakt, and related folders such as Main Library, Preferences, and Service Center — but still no luck.

All my libraries are stored on an external SSD (a Samsung T7 with 2TB of storage), but the libraries still won’t install even if I change the library location to the internal Macintosh HD.

I've also tried using Kitty Scripts, but it doesn’t work — it fails to open a Finder window and says I have an invalid library path.

I've attempted to use Add Library v3.app and v4.app, but neither of them even starts up.

Can you please help me? I've tried everything I can think of. I've read through this forum twice. Please, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Forgot to mention. If I try to Batch Install Libraries i get an empty log file. And at start up KLU says this:
You don't appear to have any installed Kontakt libraries on your computer
You can use NICNT Utilities to install some by clicking on the "NICNT Utils" button.

I cant attach any PDF's cause KLU doesn't generates any

As I read in this forum, errors continue to prevent the right use of KLU making it useless. Been trying anything for ages, following the instruction of Dev have led nowhere: KLU keep on give same errors message not installing nor remove any K lib.I think maybe is time for an update Frank? How long ago 2.4 has been released? Things has evolved and change a bit since then... Maybe?

Alternative is a handsome, small terminal script "add-library.sh" included in any HCiSO release of the latest K 8. It's a bit tricky too but in the end, with a few libs, it works...

 

if the drive you are using never had any Kontakt libraries installed on it, it would crash on me but that was also on High Sierra. I'm using Kotakt 7.4 and all the libraries I have done anything with in KLU 2.4 work fine. But I bulk add them using Add Library for MacOS v4 by that guy Junior Porciuncula, which you can find on sister site. It will bulk add anything with a valid NICNT file very quickly. For the ones which need ncint files created, I do those libraries manually in KLU. At one point, I added an entire 4tb drive worth of libraries that way and it took maybe ten minutes or so.

It's a free utility but it sounds like you think he owes us something.

Yeah, I hear you, sure I would love an update from Fred Bloggs, but we know how these things work, and I get it, and perhaps the gentleman has lost interest, got other things going on, sees some impediments (as he has mentioned before with Kontakt v8) that would require more work than feels like doing etc, or perhaps the man just wants to enjoy the sunshine or has walked off into the sunset in terms of interest..

I imagine from other threads and whatnot that you are staying on Kontakt 7.4 for macOS reasons etc, which I understand... I personally am still using HCiSO's v7.10.6 (I think), as I haven't needed anything that v8 provides, but I'd imagine looking at newer releases, that time is approaching for me, and with v8.5.x is upon us, it seems v8 is now a matured part of the vernacular as it goes... I just haven't had a problem yet, and not felt the need to fix something not broken (for me).

I've never used "Add Library for MacOS v4" myself as haven't had need, but in your experience or expertise clone, you haven't run into anything that might cause conflict or problems with it's implementation in conjunction of use with KLU 2.4 right? I usually tend to stay on the same horse when crossing the river, and I don't know if they approach things differently under the hood, but not reading a lot of complaints in regards to it, and what you are saying, I guess I imagine not. I guess I haven't looked closely to see, for example, if it checks for snipd conflicts and whatnot, as with some people with larger sample library collections etc, I could see some possible snafus etc...

(oh. and when you say "For the ones which need ncint files created, I do those libraries manually in KLU" are you talking about libraries not tied to NI's licensing/official nicnt system(creating them so you can access them via sidebar folder view or whatnot as opposed to file tree access (which sadly NI have made more clunky), older libraries created before nicnt's were implemented, etc? )

I'm open (obviously) to checking out "Add Library for MacOS v4", just don't wanna step on any toes with what's working, and it's great to hear you were able to batch add 4TB's in ~ ten minutes for sure...
