HI, i was trying to instal fab filter from Audioz, and i cannot because it says something like "the creator is unknown, mac cant know if this have a virus" and i cannot install..

what i am doing wrong??

please help.

 

Did u disable sip ?

 

1. When that message pops up, click done.
2. go to system settings and scroll down on the left bar to privacy and security. Click privacy and security and then Scroll down on the right bar and you should see a message about not being able to open FabFilter
3. Click ‘open anyway’.
4. Enter your password, and all should be good. Hopefully.

 

To add to pink’s comment, in terminal (the app) copy and paste in this code

sudo spctl --master-disable


This is so you won’t get any more of those messages when installing from AudioZ, remember to buy after trying if satisfied with the product

 

Isn't simply right-clicking the file and clicking 'Open' the easiest way to bypass the unknown-developer-protection?

There is certainly no need to disable SIP..

 

telling someone who is new to mac to disable SIP would constitute bad advice.

Permanently disabling Gatekeeper isn't all that great, either.

Apple is more and more obsessed with users' security and safety, so you'll be seeing such (misleading) warnings all the time,

for an advanced MacOS user, using Terminal and manually Codesigning and Dequarantining individual binary files is the best way, no doubt,
as others suggested disabling SIP, it's a two-edged sword, because if you happen to allow some genuine malware (funny, isn't it?) you may have hard time fixing things,

for a casual MacOS user, I would recommend a free opensource app Sentinel, which can do all those terminal commands in the background, user just drags and drops a file/app/plugin etc.. to do that: https://github.com/alienator88/Sentinel
its current version requires MacOS 13 Ventura (assuming you have relatively new Mac, the app should work then)

 

To those who defend sip: C'mon, SIPs not that magic that keeps you from getting the flu. It is a tool that restricts root from doing root things. Linux does not have that and windows doesn't have that either. As with anything that is 'yours', you should be able to do what you want with that. The moment you change to administrator or root on any machine you should be in god mode. That's how it should work. But as apple likes walls, because walls are badly needed for walling gardens, stuff like sip is very welcome to them. Great job making users think they want it.

//edit// has anyone who's driving without sip ever had any issues? Does anyone know someone who ran into ransomware because of disabling sip? I personally don't know of anything bad that ever happened by disabling it and I know a lot of macians.

So you read the first post and have somehow determined that a person asking about a feature which can be bypassed via right click, on here; should be disabling SIP? The only reason this user should be disabling SIP would be to install VR Steinberg releases.

How do you peg this post from someone you want with systemwide root? On what planet?


Is your intent to sound like this person who doesn't know what they are talking about?

An installer being blocked by Gatekeeper has nothing to do with SIP being enabled or not.
Installing Fabfilter bundle does not require SIP disabled.
