I recently changed location of the pc and apparently accidentally changed the USB port for the audio interface. Now I have computer noise on the audio output when moving the mouse . i am just busy checking that

Gigabyte state not to try to run the card in a system powered by less then a 750w PSU.

I've seen a lot of PSU that can only handle 300 or 500W in computers with people then trying to install these high performace graphics cards.

I call them power hungry because of what the graphics cards needed only a few years ago. The old Nvidia Quadro P2000, predecessor of the RTX series from Nvidia, only needed 75w and from that it could produce almost half of what the RTX 2040 can do.

In your case a 850w should have you covered but saccamano, it's Bamboozled's computer with the issue. Not Your computer.

 

Sure - I was just reacting to the 1KW psu inference regarding the RTX GPU's. I have never myself or seen anyone with a build that required a 1KW psu, unless they were building some sort of bitcoin mining device or other ridiculous use model.

That 360 in the end messed with my head hehe. I just assumed its a 2666 rated mem running @ 3600mhz. Loads of high clock mem is overclocked like this. Np, my bad mate. Memory test still applies though and also what @clone said about reseating the mem sticks. Sometimes memory is a culprit and it's hard to tell quickly. I usually do a two-three hrs test max but it has happened for memory to present its faulty nature after 8 hrs or continuous memtest.

if you haven't checked, the memory may default to the lower speed, you'd need to enable the XMP profile in BIOS to get the full speed which will help.
I know that major lag can be introduced by some plugins, in the Cubase mixer, there is an option to view the plugin delay, usually ones that process audio in "real time" like look ahead compressors etc.
Sometimes, from experience, either the latest Cubase or previous version update will work better, so 14.0.30 is out and if that is glitching, you can install 14.0.20 and you may find it works better, or vice versa.
Too many possibilities, I have the same CPU but with 64GB of RAM and still on Windows 10, no issues like yours, with 40-50 tracks of VST's mainly, it barely goes over 30%, so you should be able to run loads too, it's very high spec.

Monitor the CPU in process explorer/task manager when playing back a project, if the CPU utilisation gets very high (80%+), it may be that it's overheating, and you may need to re-seat the CPU with fresh thermal paste.

Just bought a new Qulacs quantum processor with 32 Yottabyte of RAM and still have few glitches occasionally, I'm thinking about selling a couple of islands to buy a Zuchongzhi-3 platform with 128 Yottabyte of RAM.

 

Cubase is the worst when it comes to latency.

 

Diagnosing PC hardware issues can usually be best done without Windows even booting. Once you have tested everything, then you can move on to Windows, drivers, DAW, and other software problems. With very few exceptions, you have to be running some very exotic things in 2025 for them to be engineered, tested, and manufactured for PC machines but never going to work with Windows. That is the overwhelmingly high percentage of machines any component is going to be used with.

 

Inherently an ignorant statement above if I ever saw one. There are a great many system and utility wares (among others) that either run like crap, or don't run at all in win11, but run just fine on every other win version below win11... Just mind your apple business - it's obvious you dont know what your talking about here...

Scared? pahaha... Hardly. If linux was actually worth two craps to rub together for production use, everyone would be using it, myself included. As it stands it remains a boutique OS that is way too much of a PITA to mess with on a daily basis.

 

Looking at the ASRock QVL list & the Corsair memory section, your memory should be at 3200 MTS. Not 2667 MTS with the correct modules & settings.

Another issue could be shared lanes between a PCIe slot and a NVMe slot. This usually result in shared lanes being halved between the two slots. Example: x16 PCIe slot becomes x8 when shared with a x4 NVMe slot which become x2 or x1.

The Taichi manual should have a block diagram or layout showing how PCIe lanes are distributed. An NVMe PCIe AIC (add-in card) that holds two SSDs for an x8 PCIe slot or four SSDs for a x16 slot would solve that issue allowing for full speed & available throughput for the SSDs.

Maybe for audio, but certainly not for IT. Also, overwhelmingly not for all IT security professionals. Did you pass that A+ cert yet? Probably not, or you would know that testing with the OS loaded only into memory, without all kinds of files in use is way more preferable than endlessly screwing around in Windows.

Best Buy is still looking for help. You should hit the books. After A+ you can do Security+ and Network+ too. You could teach everyone your "Disconnect Everything from the Internet" methods for corporate networks.

Surprising you even now what a A+ is or even a "cert". Maybe you should stop talking about it and actually do it. Maybe take your own advice and buy some books yourself.. Although you have to be able to read first in order to take real advantage of that. Did you pass the first grade yet?

Sorry to say but you both are wrong, best way to test hardware is to turn off the unit and shake it vigorously with both hands, if you hear loud noises or glitches something goes wrong.

 

UPDATE:

CPU TEMPERATURE

Installed HWInfo... Temps never get above 77C

RAM SPEED

Aha! So... your comment @quadcore64 and previous comment by @taskforce had me double-checking invoices to see exactly what I had purchased... and the RAM is 3600, so 2667 was wrong anyway.

I then inadvertently changed the BIOS to 3600 (I meant to do 3200 as suggested) ...and of course got a black screen, so I had to CMOS reset the BIOS.

Then went back and did 3200 instead. Overall, Windows seems a bit slicker, but no real change in Cubase.

When resetting the CMOS, it gave me a chance to check the seating of the RAM sticks quickly, and all seemed fine.

Not had a chance to do a MEMTEST yet, but will soon.

PCIe/NVMe QUESTION

Sorry, you lost me on this (beyond my understanding). What I can tell you... The NVMe drives are directly on the motherboard and not via a PCIe card (if that's what you were asking).

POWER PLAN ON STEINBERG

Another 'doh' moment. As I had mentioned earlier, I used Project Lasso to set a few things, including Power Plan changes; however, it turns out I forgot to change the settings in Cubase, so it was selecting the Steinberg Power Plan instead (hence negating Lasso setting). So, I switched off the Cubase setting so that the Project Lasso Power Plan selection would work instead.

PERFORMANCE...

Still getting 75-85% ASIO Guard at a 1024 buffer on a small project. On a more heavy-duty one (9 audio tracks, 17 VST instruments, 75-ish VST FX) at 2048, I get just shy of 90% ASIO Guard. At 1024, that same project maxes out.





It idles at those levels too ...and just in case anyone is wondering, if I switch off ASIO guard, BOOM! Straight into the red on performance while idling.

Tweaking Windows

• Energy saving
  Any energy saving option should be deactivated in favor of continuous operation.
  Open Control Panel ▸ Power Options ▸ Create a power plan ▸ High Performance and set the computer sleep time to ‘Never’.
  Once set-up, go to Change plan settings ▸ Change advanced power settings ▸ USB settings and disable the ‘USB selective suspend settings’.
• Uninstall unused applications and plug-ins.
• Remove or disable unused components (WIFI, webcams, printers etc.).
• Minimize background tasks as much as possible. This also includes online storage solutions as Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, iCloud, etc. They are often not considered, even though constant synchronization can stress the system significantly. Even if you do not experience performance difficulties, it is advisable to pause cloud services at least while recording.
• Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) - long-term audio recording tests have shown audio glitches every few hours on some systems if the 'Link Power Management' option in the RST control panel ▸ Performance is enabled. Disable it if similar issues appear and the software is used.
• Try a ‘clean boot’ without all the additional services and auto-start programs to troubleshoot issues. This is described here.
