Hi, I recently bought the Softube Console1 and Softube just had an offer for the API Channel Strip (American Class A).

I mainly produce hip hop, reggaeton and trap, so more electronic music genres.

Do you think the API Channel Strip would fit or is it more for guitar genres like rock ?

I've never heard of genre-specific channel strips. It will be just as great on any nice music. $50 bucks great?

Can't you just demo it with a couple of your own tracks, and did you get any other nice console channel strips you can use in the Console1?

That way you compare it against what you already have, and figure out an idea if it is worth $50 to you to have it available in Console1.

 

I ask because I somehow associate API more with the rock sound, so guitars and real recorded drums...I don't know why, maybe I somehow picked up a prejudice.

So far I only have the included Console1 plugin, don't ask me for the name, but it sounds really great.

 

API is nice for drums, even hip hop

 

The waves API collection sounds fantastic to my ears. I have the PA Lindell 50 and i still prefer the Waves sound more for some reason.
