This is not something you can completely avoid.

2 - You only truly realize how important she was in your life when you lose her... in my case, four years ago.

 

No drama here but I waited a looong time to find a (virtually) drama free person.

back in the days on dial up and on IRC (and not just one ... )

 

Met a girl through the internet in college. We stayed cool for years, talking on the phone a lot. Around the time of Hurricane Katrina, I released a project of instrumentals and she gave a copy to her friend. That friend wanted to speak with me because she was such a music lover. We had a GREAT conversation that night. She ghosted me afterwards but I wouldn't give up. Once I got her back on the phone, she let me know that she liked me way too much and would've felt guilty for dating me because her friend like me first. Now mind you, my initial internet friend had been with other guys and even gotten married during our friendship. So, having me in some sort of "off limits" status was not going to work for me. So we met up for our first date and I knew she was The One. I proposed over a year later and we're still married to this day.

 

Mine found me on ICQ 28 years ago.
I was at work and received a message from an unknown contact.
She said: Hi, I am from ***country****, do you want to chat?
I responded, sure why not.
We talked for 2 month, sent her picture of my life (work, street, town, monuments, food), called her a couple of time on the phone and decided to see her.
We rented a van and spent 2 weeks traveling in her country. Her friends were a little bit worried... You are going to spend 2 weeks traveling with an unknown guy and he could kill you..... Well that did not happen. We had a lot of time to discuss in the car.

She then came in my country and spend about 10 days. I made her visite different town, shown some of my friends and taste all kind of food.
In 1999 I decided to change my life and left the country to move to hers.
We are now in 2025. We are still together. This is not fun everyday but this is life. Just deal with it.
I have 2 kids.
The thing I miss the most: French food!!!

 

That's really cool, I've only came in, I think, three different countries. Actually that might go up to five or six counting a cruise. Not to mention International waters.

I was 29 and ended a 4-year relationship. promised myself to give up dating for a while, focus on myself, hobbies, traveling...
We were getting ready with a band for a gig next day, the day before the show at a local screamo fest, a roommate and also a good friend invited me to go out together: his girlfriend was coming to town from college and they were going out with his work crew. At first I was not convinced, but I promised that I will get to them when they determine what they are doing. They chose to sit and party on the steps by the Vistula River. As promised, I came and there, among friends of a colleague met HER.
We chatted all evening, about board games, movies, books and many other topics, and the next day, with a slight hangover, I played my last gig, to which she came with my friend and his girlfriend. I just asked her out and she agreed. From then on we spent almost every day with each other, I felt we had known each other forever until one day she moved in with me. it's been 6 years but I feel she's THE ONE, my love and soulmate.
