Posting here to see what ya guys think of this song I made a couple months back : def needs some work but any suggestions would help a lot.

 

too much widening on the synths / the overall mix. there is not enough center punch and body, lacking impact.

The main choppy, trance gate synth that comes in at the drop is too loud.

Bass needs to be a bit louder, or perhaps a bit more harmonically rich, with saturation etc.

Drums need to come up. I can barely hear them against the synths. Hi hat is almost drowned out completely in some parts. Clap could use layering and more energy in the hi's. With the main synths pulled down, the drums will pop through a bit more, but i still think they can come up a few db.

More automation throughout. Automate everything. Random reverb and delay throws throughout, sending different parts of the song every 4 or 8 bars. Main choppy trance gate synth and its response synth, the sort of fog horn synth stab thing could both benefit from LPF or HPF automation + washout automation.

Longer outro.

 

You need to level the kick and bass right -6db kick and bass at -6-12 and an eq cut at 30hz on bass, also a shelve around 55hz where the kick is, minus a couple of db.

Some better gainstaging around what i said above, it comes naturally when kick and bass is in order, light sidechaining on the kick and bass usually works, low cut everything thats not kick and bass, all the sounds in this track is not audible so i suggest saturation and EQ on all tracks, shape them so one sound is above the other and do some cuts for the rhythm parts EG. drums, hats so on.

Then there is the mastering, use Saturn presets, look it up, some Pro Q 4 linear phase adjustments, Pro MB 5 bands, and lastly a limiter Pro L2
You can google these things, im not being specific here im just pointing in the direcition.
