also.. being in a relationship does it make your life happy?

I'm a man and met my partner during university years. I'm a lot more happy with her than when I was on my own. A relationship means work but it's a 100% worth it. I sometimes wish for more "me-time" but that's okay.

 

Before I married my wife of 20 years.....she was my groupie......LOL!!
And yes, it's a struggle. And yes, sometimes she drives me batshit. And yes, it's worth it.
I get in too much trouble when left to my own devices.

Depending on the situation, showing off your credit card or rented Ferrari can increase your chances. Blend in with your surroundings. If you live in a hip-hop area, a baseball cap is helpful; if you live in an expensive area, a suit is sometimes advantageous.

If you have a date, If you have a date, be on time and bring some flowers. A woman wants to be conquered. Speak slowly and listen. Don't talk about AudioSexPro or how many hours you spend in front of the computer. Instead, tell them you enjoy going to the zoo and hiking.

I called her out on it.. and sent her to the back of the line.
Then when I ordered my coffee, I turned around & asked her what she wanted to drink..

It could have gone real bad that day.

 

This is most likely not going to end up in a sustainable partnership.

I've met my partners in a variety of ways and settings, but never twice the same way (not really), let's see the highlights:

First one was a classmate (high school), classic. Next one (in college) sat next to me in the bus. One after that (also college), in the plane from Paris back to NY, I was sat aisle next to her window. Then, my RA in my college dorm (12 years my senior). After that, a waitress at the cafe literally downstairs from work. And then my best friend's roommate (my first marriage).

• And yes: being in a healthy relationship helps one (me) to be and stay happy. Not so, if it's toxic.

After I left the first marriage, I caught the eye of an NYU student at my favorite restaurant in NoHo, NY. She sent over a bottle of wine. A good bottle of wine... The next one, at HMV Records in Time Square, looked like the girlfriend of a fellow musician from college - she was from the same country and city, was also a ballerina, etc. Very weird. She figured it was a sign, so I signed her up for three years.

Literally the day after I told her I was out, I met my second wife in Miami, at a radio station where she worked. So that was long distance, on/off for a couple of years, until I took her to Bali on holiday - which sealed the deal.

• I was very happy being in that relationship, but it cost me enormously (in ways you cannot even imagine). So I left.

My next partner I met a week later, at a strip club. Second year Law student, rich asshole daddy, but I said all the right things. It happens. It happened. And she paid for everything - dinners, outings - said she didn't want me wondering why she was with me.

Then yoga. Oh, Yoga. Did my body good, did my energy good, did my everything good. Yoga teacher. Married, but it didn't make her life happy. It happens. So it happened.

And then last but not least, the last one sat next to me during a Saraswati ceremony in a Bali Hindu temple, and then asked for my number, to interview me for her travel vlog, she said. Lunch/interview lasted 8 ½ hours, turned into dinner, moving in together.

• In my experience, being in a relationship isn't what makes you happy. You're either happy, or you're not - on your own.
  
  
• What a relationship can do, is either create an environment where you can feel safe, and heal from whatever traumas you're still carrying, and start growing more conscious, or the opposite: it's a thorn in your backside, you're oscillating between fight or flight modes, and it drains your energy (creative, physical, spiritual), and/or destroys your health (mental, physical, spiritual).
  
  
• If given the chance: be in a fully committed relationship. The rewards are infinitely greater than the risks. Just get a prenup.

At University - on our first day during my first lecture the teacher told the class we might meet our life long partner there... turns out he was right, alot of people did. And yes, extremely i'm happy. Shes literally my opposite in every way and opposites really do attract it seems.

 

Same here! Although I love spending everyday with her and miss her extremely when we are apart

 

I found them face-to-face. For me, the only way. You can look into their eyes, feel their 'vibe', hear their voice and see any sincerity or lack of it thereof from the get-go. Some people seem to like the online thing, but not me. (I use the almost ancient term of vibe to indicate compatibility)

Being in a relationship will never make anyone happy unless they are happy to begin with. It can make a person happier, but not happy. There is also no point in being in a relationship for the sake of being in one. Many people are extremely happy not being in a relationship of any kind other than friendship too. In age, your life partner should be your best friend, for me i.e. It depends on a person's desires and needs on their path as to the how someone finds them.

I met my wife on a date and we have been married for more than 15 years.
Sometimes we are fighting but on the whole I would say without the shadow of a doubt that it's worth it.

My last two females I met online. They were good relationships, but ran their courses. YMMV. This one now, I met at Walmart....LOL. She was feeling me looking for a HDMI cable. I need another cable, hint. 2 is good for backup.

 

i met her through friends, we were friends first, then she became my intern, now we have been together for over a decade. She's a cool chick.

 

I met my wife at a friend's party. She liked football (soccer), beer and heavy music so that was ideal! She's 10 years younger than me. I was a lucky guy.
We were married for 20 years and then her career took off which meant that we didn't spend much time together. We divorced and I'm quite happy on my own now.
