    so do I.

Will be giveing, past master classes on everything you need to know about writing/producing music when I can find the time, this track's just been mastered be out in about a month, an EP.

Intended to show from start to finish but too time consuming, but this will at least give you an idea of how i start to build a track up.

Note how it sounds now and then listen to the master when it's out.

Be more to follow if und when i can be arsed, not that i don't want to, but i got better things to do than teach, sorry, nethertheless, i know my vast knowledge and experience could be usefully tapped by some of you, I'd get a real buzz outta that.

I begin by bringing samples into the mix as I find them, auditioning them as I work, I'm also simultaneously mixing and arranging them into great sounding sections, immediately before i find the next one and so on, as you can see maybe 100 samples or more, Cubase Shows 24 tracks in the right size for me to see my arrangement, this is very important to me, I can see all I need to see, (it tells me eveything i need to know with just a glance, so i can hold the arrangement in my head and glance for confirmation), so those 24 tracks or a few more, i place the chosen ones on bar one, of each track, you can see some of the tracks have a fair few unrelated, for now, samples, I always think ahead to end of the track and what I'll be needing, so I just sling those samples on any track, some i decide are not for this section so i mute all the other samples on those 24 tracks that are for later use, by now i've got an eight bar arangement going.

Then I start soloing only those tracks 10, 15, maybe more to see how they work, i'll swiftly settle on stuff, casually arranging them in my head as I go, when I'm happy i can replicate my rapid soloing/muting into an arrangement, I'll procede to quickly arrange the samples into a, er, arrangement. A Club mix arrangement is totally different to a pop single, so depending on what i'm after the arrangement will be laid out into one of the two, this is a Club mix i was working on.

Then i start honing what little arrangement i have, into a bigger bangin section, then move on to next section. That's in part two, post it soon as i can.

    About 2 hours work

You can do a lot with samples only. I tried to make a track using only samples and some effects (minus kick and bass, they are not samples) for Halloween last year. Tried to make something scary(ish), and this was the result:

Went to some free samples website, just used the first things that I could find.

im doing random sample challenge right now. Download 15 samples from freesound.org and then do something with in your DAW.

So far this felt very creative.

Why don't you try the LOOPCLOUD comp, keep it simple, just choose samples with same key, it'll jus fall into place, i know for sure you can make a hit from those samples and i wasn't expecting it as i felt there were no strong hooks, perhaps so, but some of the stuff is solid enough to collectively add up to something special, i think i can objectively say my track is sounding hvery impressive considering none of it is my material.

You just need to be discerning and highly critical as you're compiling it, it helps because, with these two packs, sticking with one key means you choices are limited, which in this case woud be good thing, then try samples with other keys after you've exhausted the samples your using if it's lacking.

If you use samples from other artists, it's fair to credit the sample creators.
Otherwise, it's like taking credit for someone else's work.

i hate subs and i like to get inspired groove i dont know the bpm of and the key.

and the quality of the sample differs alot on freesound compared to loopcloud.
I am good with that - i enjoy it with no strings attached.

Hmm, I'm curious, do you think it's only me that can't do what i claim, could others?

I assume, being so judgemental of someone you don't know, you're both well versed in my huge body work so could you possibly provide some evidence to support, your claim, please.

    I'm all ears chaps.

Hey ArticStorm, i'm pretty sure i'll need to make prodigious use of ingnore button, but i notice can i can still see my first detainees comment, could it not be that I can't see their posts and they can't see mine. Can he still see mine?

That would make more sense, because if my posts get some folks backs up, well, they won't have to suffer being offended by my actions or opinions amymore, cos they can no longer see my posts, makes sense?

i have no problem with sampling for example a kick drum every producer has done that at some point but if you copy a chord progression or melody that is something different in the past it was mainly sampling every producer use drum samples cymbals etc.
    sample or get sampled!

I don't care that prying people care about people who uses samples, it's none of their bizness how others choose to write music.

Nobodies interested in hearing tired old prejudices except it seems those that spout such trivial drivel.

Why care about something you can't control?

Each to his own, live an let live, but most of all, mind your own bloody bizness eh.
