I think way better about learning audio fundamentals than about those practical subjectivities.
    Therefore I do not agree.

I also do not think too much about the so called standardworks of famous engineers because of the same reason.

There are only not so good alternatives for the (german) books I read in english available, but I think "Modern Recording Techniques" by Miles Huber and the "Handbook for Sound Engineers" by Glen M. Ballou are pretty good books.

It is important to understand that those books deliver very theoretical informations.
So the use for them is rather to be able to build a fundamental knowledge to be able to differentiate between nonsense and actually senseful informations. Then it really makes sense to consume those subjective practical advises - and laugh at them a lot. But sometimes they are very good as well.

What do you want to be, an engineer, a mixer, a producer or a writer?

If you can already write, then continue to do just that and if you spend countless hours writing you will organically grow into an engineer & producer too, because you will probably need to improve on all the aspects you're refering to here.

Writing/producing is where it's at, everything else you can pay for.

If you want to be an engineer/mixer you'd need to find work in a studio.

I wanted to be a songwriter, i achieved that goal immediately, from then on it was about gradually improving,(without even realising it,) every aspect of of music making, without any help from anyone, no plug's, no books, no vids etc, jus the odd bits of wisdom you glean from mags or queries put to those that can, over & over again, look at your meters but trust your ears, kick & bass share same freqs etc.

But of course I'm the only person in the whole wide world that could do that, aren't I, aren't I?

Having said that, I've recently bought some pro open heart surgery tools, does anyone know where i can find videos on Youtube, I will also be lookin for folk to practise on, i can't pay though, so if you fancy a free operation...

Mike White, Mike Senior, Joe Carrell, Matt Weiss. There's definitely some good info out there on YouTube but it tends to be tips and tricks rather than a wholistic "method" that works across different styles. For EDM styles, Mercurial Tones and Warp Academy have some good info but I'm no expert in EDM so YMMV.

Would you walk into a professional studio, hear a hit record and ask the producers which YouTube channel they watched to create it? Or email Max Martin and ask which YouTube channel taught him how to be a great producer?

    There's your answer.

Those who can do. Those who can't wind up on YouTube telling you how to do what they can't.

I haven't watched any of the videos via YT, but there are over 100 of them which have been shared. If you can't figure out how to mix minimal house with that much info from Luca Pretolisi videos, it might be time to start mixing death metal or something.

Isn't that too much? It's a legit question precisely because there's a lot of bad channels but there're good ones. He's not asking for a way to mix a grammy in one week.

It is very self-congratulatory to the point it is performative. It's also BS. I've never once walked into a studio that a producer was still there to ask about their hit record still playing. They are usually gone long before any track is a "hit". Producers do not finish a track and then wait around at the studio to find out how many copies it is going to sell.

Does it really take all that much effort to get a BS story straight? I think that would be the least someone could do.

And because you've never experienced it, then it never happens? Poor argument.

I've been sitting in studio sessions with Trevor Horn where A&Rs have entered the room, stating it sounds like a hit. A producer is responsible for delivering the project. They're there from the beginning through to the mix. The only part they aren't present for is the master.
