You know what ArticStorm? I don't know if it's because I have been somewhat more discerning on the amount of plugins I install, and get rid of the trash pretty quick if I realize I'm not gonna use it, or if it's a newer system... but I don't even notice a plugin startup scan when opening Ableton... sure, if I am installing a new Logic version or something it'll take a few... but not with Ableton...

but to agree to your greater point, perhaps we have just been at this a long time and know better how to source what and what have you, .... but I've never had any plugin in Ableton not work without knowing the why that I can remember...

 

Yeah it's annoying they removed that option from the the options.txt file

I've been spamming the official Ableton channels for years with the ARA2 request. In 2022 there was once an answer from them on Instagram, where they said that it wasn't technically possible yet, i.e. the framework wouldn't support it. Although so many people want the feature, nothing has happened since then. The funniest thing about it is that Celemony and Ableton are both German companies, and they really can't manage to work together and implement this technology, which is now even open source.

But that fits in with the Ableton fancy “we are from berlin” who just want to be different from the rest.

 

I'm part of the Centercode beta tester community a few days ago v12.2.2b17 was released and it has ARA support
WaveLab v12.0.51 has a VST3 plugin which is called "WaveLab ARA"

 

Have you tried actually using it on audio? Dragging it to an audio clip on a track is pulling up an empty window, same for Spectralayers.

 

ARE YOU FUKKIN KIDDING? I'm about to have a heart attack, can you send me a changelog or something here? I've been waiting a decade for this to finally be implemented. lol

 

Don't get too excited, you can open both of those up in 12.1, I'm not seeing anything different to the functionality in 12.2b17 here.

Oh boy. I would have spontaneously said that such a feature is not for a mini update but rather for 12.3 or 12.4 ... so for a major update. So there is no official message from Ableton?

 

im not seeing that. Either you have a different version of the same beta number, or you are mistaking having the wavelab plugin as ableton having ARA

 

I don't understand ARA, BUT:

WaveLab Pro v12.0.51 has been installed on my system for quite a while
I got the v12.2.2b17 update from Ableton...
I installed it and at the bottom left corner when it was scanning the plugins I was like what the hell "Wavelab.VST3"????
I didn't know WaveLab had a VST3 as plugin...so I added to an audio track and bumm I have now WaveLab inside Ableton
I'm dead serious

Ok it loads but I have no idea what to do
There's no option for loading wav or anything inside the WaveLab ARA so you are able to scan the plugin than you can add to an audio track but it doesn't do anything
Yeah maybe it's just a test for Ableton (able to see, scan and load ARA plugins but at this stage you can't do anything with it)
Yeah that's why beta or I'm dumb enough to use it
Ofcourse inside Cubase Pro it works

my ircam pitches brew plugins that require ara2 still not working in beta 12.2b17 due to lack of ara support in host (ableton)confirmed not really botherd about ara myself other than these plugins not working but understand why others want it. it will probably just make live crash more often

 

the vst3 will still scan, but that does not mean ARA is enabled.

 

I seriously doubt ARA support will just fly under the radar, if/when they implement it, we will know.

 

I imagine implementing ARA into Ableton is going to be extremely tricky because of Session View. ARA is linear, so that's no problem in Arrangement View but what happens when you switch to scenes? how should the plugin handle those? I could imagine that being the biggest road block for them. Would obviously love to have have ara support, but I won't hold my breath
