It's always misquoted and the sentence is, "No, I am your father". Luke was under the impression that Darth Vader killed Anakin Skywalker who was a Jedi because Obi-Wan Kanobi wasn't being honest with him. Vader invalidated Kanobi's subterfuge and spoke the truth to his son Luke...but this is just splitting hairs and only matters to phreaks like me.

 

ahhhhh do i go strings and try to replicate john williams (ha!) or take inspiration from andor and do something more synthy.... time will tell. great picture, great theme for the month and VERY fitting @yodadl is the host!

 

My first feeling was either to expand that moment in time when Darth sees his son actually jump to his death rather than sit next to him in the throne of power or explore that flash of time it took for Luke to decide to jump and his actually doing so. I'm both a father and a son and have the lived insight to experience those spaces from both angles.

 

What will come out after issue 100?

 

Unsolid will again revert to a gaseous state, dissipate into the atmosphere and never be seen or heard from again...naturally.

 

Do I hear a raised forth somewhere?

 

yeah i made this in a few hours on may 4th pretty quick like. just tweaked it today, probably should sit on it again until i post it but meh doesn't seem in the spirit. i used the shit out of pitchmaps color plugin to tweak those samples into something "musical." i might make another, i initially wanted to do something outside of 4/4 which i barely ever do but i didn't end up doing that. i dont feel like i achieved my goal of making something that would fit in the universe at a club or something. star wars rave.

lolllll i just realized i've been using pitchmap color WRONG. the black notes denote (literally i suppose ah ha ha ha ha) that the note is off not on, i had them reversed. explains why i never thought the bass sounded in key, it wasn't at least on some notes. oops! its just an exotic star wars scale dont worry about it!

edit here is a beat in 5/4 i thought of rebels dancing in the caves of hoth in like a afterhours lounge. hahahaha. i just ran it through ozone really quick so... its either better or worse than if i tried really hard to make it sound good.

The boys had a 24 hour pass and thought to let off some steam, dance their asses off after a hard week of fighting against those pesky Ewoks. When the platoon walked into the club they sized up the situation and then headed over to the bar to do some Tepasi Tequilla and to check out the chicks on the dance floor.

so for this one, the colors are all light with relaxed, cool sky tones and seems to be from Vader’s perspective. with that, the idea for this was Vader imagining how cool it will feel having his son with him at the top and the peace it will bring him; which has him reaching his hand out

i havent done an entry with synths and drum machines in a few months, so i switched it up this month. the vocal samples are all from the movie scene

Thank you, Vader's perspective is an original way to deal with it. The vocal samples fit perfectly with the music, I like the ending part wihtout rythm, made me think of Vader looking Luke falling and see his dreams go away.

Hi Everyone, I'm not a big fan of cinema, I only saw Star Wars one time and maybe one of the spin-offs.
Spielberg gives me the creeps, so I thought I might try to get a little inspiration from the Swans.
I guess a mix of Micheal Gira and Percy Faith. A real crossover!

 

I saw SWANS last year. Beautiful, but still painfully loud, even with industrial earplugs.

@Grape Ape .. I imagined when listening to that fight scene that Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker were both on large doses of Valium and the camera lens was partially obscured by frosted glass...not in a bad way, just the life and death clash between good and evil as rendered in a very chill way. It's very good.

@capitan crunch .. I'm Steven Spielberg's personal assistant and he creeps me out too...but he pays well.

You've captured the sense of tension of those two boys high wire act. Niceeee.

 

@yodadl oh okay, thats interesting, thanks for sharing how you saw it; thats one part of sharing art that ive always enjoyed...at least when its positive, luckily thats been the case for majority of my journey

thanks for hosting also, Star Wars Episode III is my favorite, A New Hope was really good too from what i remember. i also liked that spin off one where the rebels are stuck on an island, the name is missing me right now but i remember it was good

Thanks for your work, I like the first part too, a lot of tension in the second part, the decreasing end could match Luke's falling.
So no need to know the scene to catch the spirit
