    Hey guys
can anyone tell me how to fix the gui problem in waves v9r18 with ssl and api comps
the au doesn't do anything (needles don't move etc) and the vst just comes up all scattered or 95% white

    cheers

You're are in Ableton Live I guess?
Cause that's exactly how waves compressors (specially emulations) behave in ableton.
Freezed gain reduction meter, no compression at all sometime.
Waves 9 AU are not supported in Live, you must use VST.
Some waves plugs don't even process audio at all.

    read this thread.
set color bitdepth at 16 bit then i works.

it´s a bug with intel graphics.

We talkin Mac, not Win. That's a solution for Win.
The point is that Waves AU doesn't support Ableton Live, no way to make it work correctly.
Just use VST version like I do, without a problem.

I get the same white-ish behaviour with Reaper. So i don't think it's related to Ableton.

For "non-processing fx" : it happens with sidechain-able compressors (ie. fx others than 1i/1o or 2i/2o)
You need to manually route them (clicking on the matrix in Reaper, routing to a new track in Ableton)

    VSTs don't show this problem.

The GUI bug happens when I mix up vst and au in the same session. Never had a problem if i go 100% vst or 100% au.
(anyway, on a performance matter, you shouldn't mix vst and au in the same session)

Since these plugins use some of the more advanced graphics functions in the OS (be it Windows or Mac) to render their stuff, updating drivers can help (but who knows, also mess with things, I'm not responsible :)).

People having this issues, it helps if you say something about your system when you ask the question.

Otherwise, you say 'how to fix THE gui problem', I say 'there is no gui problem' and be done with it :).

The only issue I have (or had, didn't test in a long time) is with the Dorrough plugins, in Reaper they stop rendering sometimes. When you go to another plugin and back to Dorrough it works again. That's it.
