Hi. Does anyone know how to change the "kontakt portable" in Kontakt vst UI to only "Kontakt"?
I know if i want to remove it, just use the "normal" version or buy a license but i am really like how the portable version performance overall : quick to setup and easy to recognize all my libs.

Way before Kontakt 7.10, i can use software that can read all the resource of VST and exe and change it easily. But After Kontakt 7.10, that trick didn't work because it didn't appear the option to let me do that anymore.

 

I kinda want to know how to do this too. Portable versions performance is so good.

Also looking for a solution to this. Before you could use Resource Hacker (folder 304) and just edit / replace logo. After Kontakt 7.7 (and now Kontakt 8), that option has been removed. ChatGPT gave me some program options to look (JUCE, etc.) but can't find the logo file or reference anywhere. Clearly the release has a different logo ("Kontakt Portable") than the regular Kontakt, so the file has to be somewhere.

Anyone familiar with plugin development that may be able to find out where this is stored?

And like Uctwind says, the portable versions always have significantly better performance than regular version (it's crazy how much snappier it is), so I would like to use the portable version exclusively, but not with that "Portable" icon in the window haha.

it is a svg ressource hack, from text in the code. (editable)


you can find it with winmerge or an hex editor, by comparing with the original or patched.
or notepad ++ (search for P O R T A B L E ) 1 letter+2 space, etc, etc...




the performance is the same when you use the NKS menu option.
the portable only enable to not use this part, so load only the classic view menu will go faster at the opening. that's all.

nobody checked the code.

You are very funny Bob, love the Kontakt BobDule logo and so does Xupito apparently!
I understand now, but of course don't dare to try it, and I don't mind the portable logo, only private use here.

 

i made a small patcher that do the job.
it revert to the original logo easyly.
it should also works on older & future versions.
fun to see that people who care about the logo are asking for original reverse engineering.
non-code adventurers can use this tool.

Just to note - when you edit with something like HxD, you cannot change the byte size of the file or Windows will view the file as corrupted. At least, that was the case on my end. This applies to the Kontakt .exe file as well as the .vstplugins file.

I had to replace the P O R T A B L E section (in hex...which looks something like 4F 20 20 G3 20 20...") with null bytes or another letter / space. I just replaced everything with "20", which is space, so the whole line of hex looks like 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20, etc.

Perhaps there's a way around this, but that worked for me.

 

I really really thank you for your help. I never though they exit in svg file. Was it a new way how NI contain their resource or it was always like that from previous version? I do prefer just let the "Portable" sit there since i don't expect anyone want to see what i am cooking.
