Stuff like this always reminds me of the story of Ken Fritz who was a hi-fi obsessive and cared more about his system than his family. It's not a particularly happy story.

You'd always think that people would be able to tell when they hit diminishing returns, but no... of course we don't.

 

Unless you’re in a really high-end audiophile setup or using insanely expensive equipment, you might not notice much of a difference.

 

Of course there's a HUGE difference between a $20,000 cable and a $150 cable...$19,850.

If this dude wants the sound that the 20K buck cable he could just buy a decent EQ and save enough geld to buy his dog a nice doggie bone.

Yeah, buy a 20 kilo bucks wires to listen to music recorded thru several hundreds (or less) dollars wires.
Just listen to the sound of these expensive wires and don't forget about price of wires used inside your speakers in the end of all this chain

before there were speaker cables, people used lamp wire to wire their stereo systems, still the world functioned. The sun did not stop in the sky, the planet did not fall from their orbits and the equipment operated properly.

Amazing how people in general and people on the internets in particular are easily manipulated by anyone presenting as an authority in any realm. The advertising has done its job superbly..

You won't notice a difference EVEN IF you have a high end setup with insanely expensive equipment.

Spending $10-20 (depending on length) on speaker cables is enough for the sound difference to be inaudible.

 

Years ago I read a study (a real study, not audiophile magic study ;)) about speaker cables and what it came down to is: cable resistance matters the most, and cable resistance depends on the thickness of the cable and on the purity of copper unless it's mixed with silver which has a bit less resistance (the difference is negligible and very expensive, better use thicker copper wire). The results were really interesting. You're best off with using CAT5e network cable for speakers as they're made from rather pure copper, so those gigabits of data can pass through efficiently, and they're thick enough. And cheap. Use several of them braided for best results.
