Does the lite converter still run if my iaptop enters sleep mode after a while? My screen will turn off after maybe like 10 minutes but I didn’t know if the process would pause while my laptop is off in sleep mode, want to make sure I can leave it running without having to check as much for larger loads in case it takes longer for either it to run into different number files error or successfully finish shrinking before the laptop sleeps

 

Power Options

Windows allows for custom configuration of its power settings. This is useful for conserving energy when the computer is not in use. It works by automatically powering down or “hibernating” one or more components of the computer system when the computer has been idle for a predetermined amount of time. This can pose a major problem for users who record long sessions, as the computer may power itself down in the middle of recording!

To optimize your power settings for audio performance, go to Control Panel > Power Options > Create a Power Plan. Choose "High Performance." Click the "Next" button, and make sure both options are set to "Never."

***On some Dell computers, it is necessary to set "Intel Ready Mode" to "Manual" to avoid the power settings reverting on each reboot.
Also, many systems come preset to conserve USB power by temporarily cutting or disabling power to USB ports that are not actively in use. This can often be problematic for USB drivers that run in the background, since background tasks are not given power priority by the OS.

If you use USB interfaces or controllers, than you should disable this power-management scheme. Go to the Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus Controllers > right-click on a "USB Root Hub" > Properties > Power Management > deselect "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" > press "OK." Repeat this process for all USB Root Hubs in the Device Manager.

 

If you want to temporarily stop the computer from going to sleep then for Windows there's Caffeine and if you've Microsoft Powertoys installed it has Awake. Just click to enable either, do your conversion, then click to disable. No further configuration needed.

Such tools also exist for other systems, but I forget the names now.

 

I don’t want to stop my laptop from sleeping just let it run the converter in the background while off after so long, plus this will help if I ever end up with a laptop that has an oled display

 

You can prevent sleep and still turn off displays.

Also unless the converter has a "prevent sleep while running" option your only other choice is to manually prevent sleep. Up to you how you want to do that, but I personally prefer a tool to bypass it instead of changing my power settings (because I'll probably forget to switch back...)

 

One (temporary) option:

Use the Win+R shortcut on your keyboard, enter "control powercfg.cpl,,1" (without the quotes).
This should take you to your current power plan's settings.

Adjust your PPlan so that your screen turns off without sending your laptop to sleep.
