Hi, while watching a tutorial on Ableton-based production, the presenter mentioned that he saved his favourite sounds in a folder so that when he needed basses, for example, he already had a list of his favourite sounds, making it easier to find them. In fact, he mentioned that he spent his free time opening VSTs and testing sounds, thus creating those folders. I found it really useful since we tend to have many VSTs, and we always end up using the sounds we know, and often don't stop to look for new ones due to lack of time. For example, I'm looking for a string. I know I have some in a VST, but perhaps there are better ones in others, and instead of opening a new one and testing, I'll stick with the ones I already know. Alternatively, I could have a folder with all the strings already selected, regardless of which VST they came from, and place them in the track. I don't know if I'm making myself clear.
I'd like to know if anyone knows of a similar function in Cubase.
    Thanks

First, create a folder, for example, "My Own Samples," and then a subfolder within that folder, for example, "Strings."
Now open Cubase and select a string plugin. And save it using the following instructions:

This way, you'll always have your best presets. It's recommended to back up this folder externally. This saves a lot of time and hassle.

I save all presets as *.FXP or VST3 so I can also use my presets in another DAW. I load my plugin there and then import/load the preset from my own personal folder.

Saving VST Presets (You can save your VST instrument settings as VST presets for later use.)

    Procedure

    Do one of the following:

    - In the VST Instruments window, click the Preset Browser for the instrument and select Save Preset.
    - In the VST Instrument control panel, click the Preset Browser for the instrument and select Save Preset.
    - In the Save <VST Instrument Name> Preset dialog, enter a name for the preset.
    - Click OK to save the preset and close the dialog.

Loading VST Presets (You can load VST presets from the VST Instruments window, the control panel, or the Inspector.)

    Procedure

    Do one of the following:

    - Select the track containing the VST instrument. Click Program Selector in the Routing section of the Inspector.
    - In the VST Instruments window, click the Preset Browser for the instrument and select Load Preset.
    - In the VST Instruments control panel, click the Preset Browser for the instrument and select Load Preset.
    - In the Preset Browser, select a preset from the list and double-click it to load it.

Thank you! Will try that, isn't exactly what I watched the guy is doing in Ableton, what looks really amazing and practical but this is another way and I'll try it for sure.

If you send me a link to the Ableton guys, I can check out how he does it! I've been doing sound design for 14 years, and my method is the fastest and most reliable for me. Visit my website: http://ohlenbostelhelge.magix.net/public/

Hans Zimmer, born in 1957, is currently one of the busiest and most successful film composers in Hollywood. A hallmark of his work is that he creates a sound database of musical themes and sounds before filming begins. From these elements, he and his assistants can then compile the sound and music design for individual film sequences, virtually in real time.

Hans has folders called containers, and he drags the appropriate samples for the scene into the tracks. So, it's sample-based.

Use Track Presets. They are organized in Mediabay so you can create the folder structure you want to store them in, and/or tag them with attributes for filtered searches. Track presets can be single tracks or multiple tracks, but routing is not preserved, you need to export them as track archives for that.

hello again and thank you so much for your help. If you can, this is the video, place it at 1.44.34
It's in spanish but you can see how the guy is checking the sounds in a VST and saving the most useful in a folder.

This is a great video. Go to 27 minutes 35 seconds in the video for 'Preset' saving, although the whole video is worth watching and learning from.
