I would definitely love a Kurzweil K2000 and/or K2500 emulation. One was being worked on by a guy called "Psobot" on github, but it was sadly cancelled in 2023.

Everytime there was one for sale for a reasonable price over here (I wouldn't buy one without testing it) I had something else going (usually lack of spare money, but...). A friend has one in his studio and I'd love to have one to actually have the time to program, instead of quickly trying it out.

A virtual version would be absolutely fantastic.

I don't know, it's a matter of taste obviously and what you are trying to do. but I had a JP8000, and never used it on a single track (or rather, despite trying to justify the purchase etc, it never beat the other things I had in terms of what I was trying to do (subjective).... ) and so gave it away to a friend...

I didn't think it was bad or anything, it just wasn't my thing at the time, and while I appreciated absolutely certain UI aspects about it (why I got it in the first place).. it just didn't make a sound that was correlative to what I was doing... (sure I could have made it do so, as again, not a bad synth or anything... just not a sound that was leaning heavily to what I desired at the time...)

perhaps I am just not the super hyper multi detuned and spread chorused adderall saw wave guy I guess...

I honestly had no idea people were really nostalgically wanting that device made in emulation and it was something particularly special.

 

What's all this buzz about? Is another saw/supersaw VA emulation with deliberately limited functionality, on top to a million and one that we already have, something worth looking forward to?

I don't know, maybe if I had the hardware it would've been fun for an hour or so, but I never did so I don't get the excitement. It's just some basic waveforms with basic filter and some typical modulation sources, nowadays it's kind off basic stock pile stuff. I already foresee that it won't top the Sylenth in terms of sound quality (because it's Arturia), it won't sound better that the actual gear (it never does) nor will it enable to explore new sonic grounds.

 

Possibly a "best time" to audition Navira if you haven't yet, while waiting.

 

ah yea i remember this now my friend was a beta tester for the k2500 project, he tried sending psobot messages [once every month] to ask the progress of the plugin but got no replies, which is a shame cause a virtual k2500 plugin would be nice to have

 

So is this now confirmed to be a scam or do we still have hope that more detailed information will be released on April 24th about when every techno-head's dream synthesizer emulation will see the light of day?

I think he realized his mistake and didn't want to look stupid. Actually, he should leave it as it is and add an EDIT.
