Whats the best way to extract novation ulteranova wavetables? It comes with a vst to run inside your daw so its easy to modulate the wavetable to record but im not sure what i should be doing.Ive tried this multiple times watched multiple youtube videos but they dont turn out the same.Some people say you can sample on c3 another one says 44.1K - F0 , 48K - Gb/F0 , 88.2K - F1 , 96K - Gb/F#1 , 176.4K - F2 , 192K - Gb/F#2.What length should i record the wavetable? I know serum has multiple lengths whereas others dont have a legnth option , im trying to get the wavetables exact as possible.

 

How about SampleRobot? And SPDIF? You need an audio interface with SPDIF.

Right now im using thunderbolt on my uad apollo twin x heritage.I have sample robot but thats more for just recording the sound im trying to make sweepable wavetables from the internal ones on my ultranova to use in plugins

It looks like you need the adapter rca coaxial to toslink/optical, right?

 

you can capture single cycle waveforms over a regular old analog cable. 1/4" TRS or 1/4" TS if a monosynth, which you can just pull a TRS out one click anyway if you do not have a TS cable.

You do not need a digital audio connection to create wavetables.

 

Yea ive watched this one thats where i got the sample at C from but venous theory has it broken down into specific keys to get certain sample rates.But in serum it ask for different size wavetables venus just shows making a 1 bar loop.But when i put them into to serum or anything else they dont sound the same at all.There barely even moveable like they are inside the ultranova.

 

A Serum wavetable consists of multiple sample frames, each 2048 samples long.
Not only do you need to make sure that each frame loops without click, but you also need to make sure that the phase of each frame correlates with the next one so that modulating the wavetable position gives you a smooth result. Serum and Pigments have tools to help you building wavetables.

 

What DAW are you using? The one bar loop mentioned is usually a looped note of simple sine wave so the external synth can be tuned to it properly.

that's when you can switch the DAW time display setting on your DAW to show samples, so you can zoom in and set a 2048 sample long cycle length.

Another optional application you can check out if you do not like your wavetable synths utility is Sonic Academy Node. Someone released it on sister site at one point, It looked ok.

 

I use studio one but i do have other daws installed ..... ahhh i didnt think about that setting it to samples im about to try it as for node yea i have it already installed i really just wanted to get the ones off my ultranova just to have.One issue i had was even though i would modulate the wavetable to sweep through it when i exported and dropped it into serum or others it swept but not like the one on the hardware.I wonder if i can find out how many samples the ultranova wavetables are in the first place.I was recording them at 1 bar as everyone says to do but the samples might actually help ill let you know.

 

Presonus studio 1 ver 7 But i also tried ableton and bitwig last night, hell i even tried to get some of ableton and bitwigs internal wavetables still didnt work right.I tried different keys different lengths . The wavetables ended up messed up some had blank spaces in between them some started off with nothing some the table would start and stop again but they were recorded straight through its not like i stopped mid-way or something. So im still trying to figure this out thanks everyone for the input its greatly appreciated!I couldnt figure out how to change ableton to samples im very new to ableton same with bigwig so i recorded by bpm am i allowed to post the wavetables i recorded so you or others can see what im talking about?

 

It is not allowed to generate and publish wavetables from the synthesizer @tgunz020707!
