I’ve added some extra libraries to an Omnisphere installation and was now wondering if when I install from a .omnisphere file it makes a copy and puts it in the STEAM folder? Want to know in case I’m just wasting space holding a backup of the library files when I only need the main Omnisphere folder with everything in it, then I can just make a backup of that folder later? Will the libraries be recognized if I install Omnisphere elsewhere and point the STEAM folder to it and I only need to install .omnisphere libraries once? Plus there’s probably more of us who would love to know the answer so it’d be advice for managing Omnisphere

 

Mine are like this, but I do not remember if it did them or I did them manually. Anyway, why don't you look for them by file extension.

You can use a wildcard for any file extension on Windows, or you can use the Finder on Mac.

Wildcard for Windows would be *.omnisphere. On Mac Open Finder, Hit Command + F, change the Search from Find to Other, then file extension. Only type the extension like "omnisphere" and not the . before it.

You just need to look at the correct hard disk where you want to search.

 

Would the extra libraries just be in the STEAM folder with that extension? I have all the other libraries in a separate folder from the main library folder and wanted to make sure there wasn’t a duplicate of them in there once installed in Omnisphere

 

when you install .omnisphere, it gets added to your STEAM Library within your presets, which you may search in the browser. It is immediately available, and really needs no backup..

 

importing .omnisphere does put it in the steam folder automatically as Omni knows where the steam folder is already as all the libraries are stored there

This is a completely different steam, I am asking if a certain plugin mentioned here copies libraries made for it, the STEAM folder and steam by valve are completely different
