I've recently acquired Spectronic's Trillian. It requires a steam folder but I don't have one nor is there one available on the discs.

How can I acquire this steam engine or whatever it is to use Trillian?

I'm so confused right now. Do I have to have Omnisphere in order to have the steam engine or is the steam engine a player like the play engine of east west?

Can I install Trillian without the steam folder?

Thank you for the reply man, I will try this and let you know if it worked correctly. It installed a few files before I stopped trying. A steinberg and cakewalk folder which both contain the trillian dll. should i delete these before trying to install again?

I'll paste the following instructions for you, as someone was kind to post somewhere...:

"WINDOWS - MOVING THE STEAM DIRECTORY AFTER INSTALLATION

    • Drag or copy the STEAM folder from your installation drive (C:\Program Files\Spectrasonics) to the hard drive location of your choice.

This can be another drive partition, a secondary internal drive or an external hard drive such as a Firewire or USB2 hard drive, etc.

    • Next, right-click the STEAM folder in the new location to create a “Shortcut To STEAM”.

    • Next, copy the shortcut to C:\Program Files\Spectrasonics.

    • Finally, make certain to remove the “Shortcut To” from the name (including removing the spaces), leaving the folder shortcut named STEAM

May be a good idea to pin this topic for future reference... "

So, both Omnisphere and Trillian use STEAM folder where sample data resides.

Did you just install the program itself without the library?
The Steam folder is where all the sounds are. Without it, obviously there are no sounds :) The Trilian part of Steam folder is about over 33 GB

the steam folder is where the sounds are stored, it is NOT the games company, let the trillian installation run completely and after finishing you can then move the steam folder to an external drive if you wish, just make sure that the vst can locate it

also if you want to move the vsti to a preferred folder you can do this manually as well
