Online or offline machine? And if online, have you blocked Nexus with firewall?

@BenniTheBlockbuster il would be useful if you post a screenshot of Cubase track inspector (Nexus track) while the plugin doesn't produce any sound. Also, if you are using Nexus Vst3 (I suppose) have you tried the Vst2/64 version?

In Studio one Nexus 5 is running smooth

 

14.0.20 R2R on two client comps. One was i7 12700K-32gb ram, the other was Ryzen7 5800X-64gb ram. The third one, a Ryzen 9 7950x -96gb ram is running original Cubase Pro. In all situations Nexus ran fine no probs whatsoever. Something about your config mate for sure. If you run VR be sure to uninstall the way R2R recommend and install their version, it is superior. It also runs fine on my 10 y.o. i7 6700K-64gb ram with original Cubase 12. In all cases install was offline but the comps are all online comps with minimal protection like a free firewall and av.

It is possible that the Cubase version is problematic, revert to an older or newer version.

 

I had the same problem with Sylenth1, it turned out to be from ASIO4ALL.

 

Remember that one of the easier ways to deal with some N5 configuration files, svg whatever; is to allow it to go online for a very short period of time. So close N5, change your hosts file to some quick easy change in the refx domain entries you have added, save hosts. Reopen DAW and N5 so it lets it go connect and grab files, then block it again.

It is mentioned in most installation instructions. Sometimes things "you know aren't going to work" are better to do anyway. That way you have also ruled them out; especially when they are simple ones like that.

Have you tried to toggle the Preview audio option on and off in N5?

Not many people (here) use that audio interface you have. Did you try with it off, with other ASIO driver, onboard audio or other audio interface? You could try with ASIO4ALL as mentioned above, since testing is really the only reason to ever use it...

I asked earlier about other Refx products, but when I looked there wasn't a version on sister site. There is a version of Vanguard 2 for PC on there which was just uploaded a few minutes ago. See what it does testing it the same way your N5 is doing this...

wow. Ok so this may be a wild goose chase, but I will mention it anyway. The earlier releases of v5 on Mac actually installed a second copy of the plugin, right in the same directory as your settings.json folder. Deleting it made all of the presets stop working, or something like that.

So you probably only use the VST3 copy in your Cubase, right? Do a search and find any other copies of the plugin. You could either delete them, or move them out of locations where your DAW can see them.

 

Is it the same with another Preset?
