R.I.P. - Dave Allen (†69, „Gang of Four“-Bassist), 5. April

Dave Allen wasn't a founding member of Gang of Four, but he was featured on the band's first two albums: Entertainment and Solid Gold. These albums had a profound impact on rock music, especially the post-punk style. Allen's basslines in songs like "Damaged Goods" and "At Home He's A Tourist" played an important role, and his style can still be recognized in young bands today.

After his time with Gang of Four, Dave Allen founded the band Shriekback. He also played bass in The Elastic Purejoy and Low Pop Suicide—both bands were represented on the label World Domination Recordings, which Allen himself founded. Had medical conditions not been so problematic later in his life, Allen would have liked to play a farewell tour with Gang of Four in its original lineup, but that never happened. Rest in peace, Dave Allen.
