Hello all! So, at least in my setup (latest-ish Reaper, Windows 10), rendering Add2 tracks to mono brings in some pops and clicks here and there. There seems to be a pattern: drum fills (even if the drum parts are exactly the same as in the groove, and after a short pause (e.g. the first kick drum hit is always distorted, or the first snare hit after a short break etc.) The second case sounds wrong already when playing back live, while the first one only comes up in the render. Has anyone faced anything like that and come up with a solution?

I might add some of these tracks will have at the most 4 effects in them (a compressor, an EQ, a transient shaper and a tape emu) Thanks a bunch!

A little more info would help narrow down your issue. A few to get started:
    • System memory
    • CPU
    • Overclocked system or normal
    • Storage - SSD, HHD
    • Is system optimized for audio
    • Background apps/programs running
    • Connected to internet while using DAW

If you're getting pops/clicks in your audio playback that is generally caused by one thing. Your ASIO buffer length is not large enough to accommodate the latency induced by your host system (i.e. the speed of your computer hardware, processor, storage, ram, os, etc). If you're not currently using the ASIO driver for your audio hardware, you should install it and start using it. Which could be a secondary reason for the artifacts in your playback. The rule of thumb on ASIO buffers is generally the more robust the host system is for processing power and system resources the lower (in milliseconds) the buffer settings (audio latency) you can use without getting artifacts in your audio.

BE advised this is all in lieu of the fact that your source audio tracks are clean and not being compromised in some other way... As in the audio tracks themselves have not had clicks/pops introduced into them from some other source...
