Verdi was the Michael Jackson of 1800, his arias were famous all over the world 1 week after he published, he was definitely a pop phenomenon

What a mess. Well... let's remove AREA anyway, they have absolutely nothing to do with Italo-disco! Blasphemy. Eliminate the great De Andrè who as a very committed singer-songwriter is greatly out of tune; followed by Pino Daniele (but for goodness sake), Zucchero, Battisti, Vasco Rossi and the folk of Branduardi.
I have doubts, strong doubts, necessarily linking Patty Bravo to the genre.
Italo-disco is a (sub) musical genre, it has had its own imprint attributable to a massive use of synthesizers and sequencers, the melodies are catchy and very present with simple and sometimes 'nonsense' lyrics at most attributable to themes such as love, romance, the future. All aimed at danceability and rhythm.
Having said that, the genre is quite full of rubbish but there are some pearls...
One above all: Vacanze romane (listen to it carefully, for me it remains a masterpiece).
So let's not be ashamed of Italo-disco, let's not 'tug by the jacket' of illustrious musicians, let's leave in their place old and authoritative authors who already have to defend themselves from our oblivion... ;-)
Whoever wanted to taste and enjoy the Italian musical menu would not start from the genre of this discussion. Certainly.
