Tried unpacking an nkx file, error basically translates to “failed to decrypt id something not found”, is it possible that the library needs decrypted before total commander can unpack the library samples to be shrank? inNKX or other part needs updating? Or is this just a bad library and I have to get another one?

I'm not sure if this helps, but I was able to unpack older libraries just fine with Total Commander on macOS via CrossOver, then I had an issue with a Kontakt 8 library and some error message. But I found the latest version of the 2017 extension which has been fixed multiple times recently by vkDanilov, and now everything works fine. I'm not sure where I got the file, but I think there might be a thread around here further discussing extracting Kontakt library samples. Also, be sure to add all 3 file types for extracting: nkc, nkx, nicnt

Just in case, update your NativeAccess.xml file

Oh could that be why it can’t decrypt a nkx maybe? would launching and checking for native access updates update the xml?

If the .nkx file is from a library that's not already in your NativeAccess.xml that could be the fix. Total Commander's inNKX searchs for the data used for the encryption in the NativeAcces.xml as a last resort.

The only thing is you’d think spotlight collection India would already be there considering it’s an older library, what, does it have to be loaded in Kontakt first to add to xml too?

It's indeed old. One unusual thing is that is part of a bundle. I looked in my NativeAccess.xml and found "Spotlight Collection 2023 Edition":
    Code:
      <Product version="1">
        <UPID>1ec3a96d-dcd1-427a-9cbe-702217ec97f6</UPID>
        <Name>Spotlight Collection 2023 Edition</Name>

Perhaps inNKX gets lost because of that

I should already have that, I look in version 8.2.0 and the inNKX is dated “7.2024” and I know I have the version from that time from an earlier version while fixing the “samples can’t be found” error when I first started shrinking my libraries, you suppose it’s also possible total commander is the culprit? Think I downloaded the latest version from a couple months ago so everything should be up to date

If I delete the native access xml will it be recreated upon opening the app again? Just updated native access and somewhat to collect my soundwide Akai bundle I have from registration and also to hopefully update the xml if it’s automatically updated

Don't know what might be. I'd just use Kontakt to unpack the nkx's doing a batch compress

there is a plugin file association to make for the system with total commander.
you should install the inNKX files on your drive first, assign your system extension to take nicnt nkr nkx
then you can re use it from kontakt button, without loosing the file association on close.

in double commander it is done in the options settings /plugins WCX you add manually the extension
the kontakt button is editable, it is a rar archive. you can update total commander inside if you want.

if you can open a nicnt file, it works
if you can't, the file association is not made. it is easy to check.

nkc are only samples path descriptor that kontakt generate. and overwrite on the first library load.
