If i am playing a song in C major key using C major chords (C major F major G major) lets say

which blues scale would work best for this? (to solo over them)

For example would C blues minor or C blues major scale work or would be totally off?

or which blues scale would be more ideal?

    Thanks

Best bait is C blues major, because you play over major chords progression.

You need to think about "relative minor" to the major scale.
If you want to play minor, play A minor blues ... because it is the relative minor to C major blues.
They are the same notes, apart the famous "blue note" itself (4#/5b).

But as played over major chords ... it will still sound like C major blues scale (same notes)

Side note : it is the same about "regular" major scale and his relative minor scale (example : C major <-> A minor). Same notes.

Both introduce intervals that aren't in C Major, so your solo might sound different from the rest of the song - which might well be desirable.
    Code:
    C Ionian: C D E F G A B
    C Blues Major: C D Eb E G A
    C Blues Minor: C Eb F Gb G Bb
No matter what tonic note you pick, the blues will always have at least one sharp or flat (-> will never fit perfectly into C Major).

If you don't want a blues vibe, then don't solo over the blues.

If you want a super common vibe that also fits into C Major, you could noodle over C Pentatonic Major (C D E G A) - zero risk, but it won't sound bluesy.

You must decide what you're actually going for here and pick accordingly.
