Kind of a stupid topic but I was interested in what color your studio walls are. I am debating between a dark blue or dark purple. Any input on the topic would be appreciated. I once read some where that blue helps the psyche with productivity. Wondering if any one knows anything about color tones and how to maximize studio wall color for productivity and creativity. Thanks.

Interesting,I had a friend who was reading in to this same idea when he was painting his studio.I believe orange was the most creativity inspiring if I remember right. He went with a bold orange kinda tannish. It looked nice.Personally I think a dark blue or purple would look pretty cool, especially with black accents.

have some aspects to think about:
Clear colours are good to inspire because they are open,
But dark ones are good for concentration...
I always play with different colours ( 2 at least) and always amaze me how people choose a spot, not for the acoustics, but because is braight or dark.
Relationg to the musical form: traditional song format is ABA and A and B must be diferent by
    tone
    harmonic march
    orquestration
    bpm (1 or all above)
    so why not colors?
Contrast is the name of the game

Man, look here an article from a website - 'The colors of the walls and their significance'

Yellow is color of the sun and is synonymous with warmth, joy and dynamism. Spaces painted yellow and become generally more optimistic, energetic and happy. But beware: remember that the danger is also marked by yellow color. Actually this color too much and too strong and bright tones can cause unpleasant sensations and become something aggressive. Thus, the lightest and soft shades of yellow are generally more comfortable bet.
Blue is known to be a peaceful color, representing the sky and the sea. Although there are lots of shades of blue in general this is a color causing relaxation and also safety. Most often associated with male gender (being widely used in boys rooms) this is actually a color with a lot of potential that can bring softness and harmony to all the rooms in your home - however careful because a lot of blue on the walls can also make the space look more cool or sad.
White is light, peace, serenity, purity and spirituality also. When painting the walls white gets a comfy, cozy, quiet and clean effect. It is one of the best solutions for small spaces, but it is still a very safe bet where not at risk: to paint everything white can simply become monotonous and take some life and excitement to the different environments of home.
The brown is the color of earth and is therefore closely linked to nature. This color gives us strength, endurance, maturity and stability; thus painted with shades of brown environments become comfortable, welcoming and simple. The brown is usually a calm and ideal for more traditional and rustic color environments. However, too much can make the space very stagnant and so drab.
Orange is energy, vitality, fun and success. Standing between yellow and red, paint a wall orange gives a very warm and lively energy that can make the most cheerful and sociable environment, leaving people at ease. This is a color that brings originality and spontaneity to your home, but keep in mind that in exaggeration can cause irritability.
Black is an authoritarian and austere color, which sometimes is also associated with something mysterious or spiritual. Remember that in the West this is the color used for mourning, so black can bring us this emotional burden of sorrow and penance. Also associated with loneliness, isolation and protection black is the absence of light, generating smaller and even claustrophobic environments. In any exaggeration becomes too heavy and oppressed space; But some black on their walls may indicate a certain refinement, elegance, exclusivity and dignity.
Pink is often associated with the feminine universe, often transmitting sensitivity, delicacy, romance and beauty. But beyond that, the pink also has the ability to calm mood or even better, and can therefore be a good option for different environments.
Purple symbolizes prosperity and luxury but also spirituality, creativity and imagination. Being the color of royalty, it shows power and exclusivity. Purple presents itself as a strong color that marks any location: from the bold deep purple the most soothing and soft lilac. However, even if you opt for stronger, vibrant and dark shades should always take some extra care not to overdo it.
Green is a refreshing color and young, often related to optimism - but it is not too exciting, is more serene and calm. With the ability to bring nature into the house, the wide variety of interesting greens allows different options for indoor environments. Furthermore, the green color is also associated with something healthy and pleasant, which is always positive.
Red is passion and energy, but also aggression. In the background, is one of the most intense colors that you can use in your home - and this will have real consequences, it may even increase the heart rate of a few people. Houses with some red walls are bold, daring, and original score enough any space.
In general - as is easy to see - softer colors give an ideal effect more cozy and quiet to relax and sleep, while stronger colors provoke intense and exciting sensations that are perfect to stimulate and give life to your home. However, even if you want a more stimulating effect, you should always use strong or bright colors with some moderation.
Finally, always keep in mind that color is not just a decorative element: it is a key to feel good in your own home factor, as always leads to an emotional reaction. So choose sensibly - never put aside your personal taste of course.

That's it, I hope that helped.

Blue walls get very depressing , be careful with that, a bit of blue decors fine but walls need your 2nd idea with a bit of red in it to warm things up a bit
People who havn't taken my advice say they wish they had, but maybe your different.

Personally I would go with blue. I always find a blue room to be calming. As for the way it affects my vision, I find that blue light is nice compared to red or orange hues blue hues are less stressful on my vision.
