You can load vsts & can now run multiple track in an arranger. Just my opinion but i think they made it worse in many ways.

Does anyone know how to get vsts to show up in Scaler 3?
It scans the default vst2 & vst3 directories. The thing is my vst2 & vst3 vsts are in a custom directory.
& there doesn't seem that you can change the location of the plugin scan :dunno:

I exactly had this tool in my mind today, when i read the news about scaler.
Made many tracks with that and loved to play around with the sound. It´s really deep.

    Question about scaler:
Can it help me to find additional Melodies or chords for my existing Tracks?
For Example i´m making my own song and feed it with my chords or melodys, or when i´m making a remix and feed them with the midi chords from a original song?

I´m not searching for AI generated melodies from scratch.

    thank you guys :)

I haven't poked around with it much, although I did watch some pre-release videos on it. I honestly thought the feature of loading in VSTs and creating arrangements and such to be utterly useless.. at least to me. I have a DAW, why would I need a plugin doing this? I'm not their only customer, but it just feels like unnecessary bloat. They sounded pretty excited about the features in their pre-release videos, but yah, I just prefer to do everything in a DAW and I'd think most people would too. I'm no expert on that general opinion, however.

What I'm always interested in this plugin for though is discovering chord/chord progressions and tools that help me figure something out are what I like. I'm not sure they needed a new version for the enhancements to those features, but I'm not complaining. I have a lot of playing around with this plugin to do before I really know what's there and what I'll use.

I have a DAW loading Scaler 3, which includes a DAW and loads Serum 2 VST, which has a DAW.

Having a DAW in a DAW in a DAW. So important these days!

I think the same thing about the EZ plugins with their little timeline sequence thing they added at some point; but some people use them and apparently like them. Can this one be hidden away? These "new ideas" are ok when they do not stick them right in your face and make them unavoidable.

They add this dumb stuff because some reviewer listed it in a list of "cons" or whatever. No-one who actually uses the thing ever asks for them.

"Tools" for the musically and creatively impaired...and there's apparently a market for this - even more hysterical...

I bought Scaler 2, but didn't use it as much as I would've liked.
Plenty of potential, but I wasn't a fan of the workflow. Things that should be easy were hard and for what's it's designed for, it nearly as intuitive as it should be (compared to Cthulhu for example.)

By the looks of v3 they made it even less focused, but I'll check it out.

Does it still come with those 'sounds', which take up 95% of its disk space and actually sound terrible? I literally shudder when I remember hearing those boomy pianos on headphones. There isn't a single one that is OK.

Yes! it does it quite well. You can give it your chords / midi, and it has a bunch of patterns that it will fit to your progression. seriously a ton of them, basslines, melodies, arp's, passing phrases etc etc.

Lmao. Just wait until you can load VST's inside Serum 2. Endless Dawception.

Totally agree. I also think compressors, preamps, equalizers etc are tools for the electrical engineer impaired, its hysterical there's a market for them. If you arent designing your own circuits, and soldering / building your own compressors can you even call yourself a producer / engineer?! Your going to rely on some no-name geezers plugin port of some no-name Putnam's compressor design from 100 years ago? seriously tho, i can play many instruments, and still can find the value in tools like scaler. If anything, using it as a midi sampler is one awesome use case, but there are plenty of reasons a creative person trained in music theory may still use these tools.

I was also hoping for a simplified version, but yah, they made it even more chaotic lol. It can take some time to figure out a workflow that works for you, but its worth spending some time digging in, as its very powerful when you have a workflow locked.

Yes, but you can choose to not install the sounds, agreed they are terrible. The piano is atrocious. I have written them many times over the years begging for just a simple wavetable synth, but instead they just went with the load your own synth, which i sort of hate, but i guess is better than having to route midi or drag and drop in some cases.
