    Hello!

I need to broadcast a series of songs and would like them to sound as consistent as possible since they have different tonal balance between them.

I thought, inspired by broadcast processors and since I can only use a mac, to use a pro mb with maximum bands so as to match the desired tone as much as possible between tracks while maintaining consistency.

    1) Do you think a steepness of 48db/slope is good for this kind of craft or should I use something softer like 24?

    2) Do you know of more efficient solutions that work better in keeping the tone consistent between tracks?

    Thank you musicians and friends!

are you not worried about preringing using this on linear phase? i would suggest using a dynamic eq and no bands but bells and also in zero latency mode

you could also use some spectral balancing tool, for your purpose voxengo teote comes to mind or gullfoss master

Regarding the slope of the FabFilter Pro-MB: A slope of 24 dB per slope would be more suitable in this case than 48 dB per slope. The smoother 24 dB slope allows for a more natural and musical processing, producing fewer audible artifacts. The Pro-MB also offers a unique Dynamic Phase Processing mode, which results in minimal phase changes when changing gain, making it ideal for your application.

my suggestion: less bands, way less range, gentler slope

Preringing may be obvious in static mode, but far less noticable in dynamic mode except if you do really steep band/Q. in a multiband situation it's 99% of the time better in linearphase mode as it make the crossover point disapear giving you a far beter representation of the original Spectrum (you can't ear the crossover point in short)

Depends on how many bands you need. Two or three way crossovers can be done "correctly" with IIRs and they'll sum to 0-amplitude at the CX point(s) (Linkwitz-Riley, Duelund).

If they are mastered, just lower the volume of louder songs so that the percieved loudness is normalized (consistant loudness across all songs, like Spotify/Youtube/etc). No need to further do dynamic harm on already mastered material.
Edit: I say this respectfully as a ME. Don't fuck up what isn't fucked up.
