    Hello guys,

I have installed Keyscape on my mac and it works. The error message occurs while patching to newer versions.

    Current versions are:
    Keyscape Software 1.5.0c
    Keyscape Soundsources v1.0.2
    Keyscape Patches v1.3c

The GUI is messed up and I found out that is has to do that the patch library database is too old. I need to patch it to a newer version.
Whenever I try to patch it with whatever newer version than 1.3c the following error message appears:

Unable to read expectd size from installation instruction file. Instruction file needs repair.

This is an official error message that can be found in the troubleshooting of Spectrasonics but I cannot find out what I am doing wrong.

Thank you for your help :)

I asked the AI, maybe it will be helpful for you!

The error message "Unable to read expected size from installation instruction file. Instruction file needs repair" typically occurs due to issues with the update or installation files. Here are steps to resolve this:

    Steps to Fix the Issue
    1. Verify File Integrity:
      • Ensure that the update files you downloaded are complete and not corrupted. If you suspect corruption, re-download the update files directly from your Spectrasonics user account.
    2. Check Security Software:
      • Security or cleaning software like CleanMyMac or MacKeeper can interfere with installation files. Temporarily disable such software during the update process, as recommended by Spectrasonics.
    3. Do Not Move Installation Files:
      • Avoid moving or dragging installer files out of their original folder. This can disrupt the file structure and lead to the error.
    4. Delete Old Index Files:
      • Navigate to STEAM/Keyscape/Soundsources/Factory/Keyscape Library and delete the zmap.index file. Then, reopen Keyscape and refresh the SoundSource browser.
    5. Update All Components:
      • Ensure all parts of Keyscape (Software, Soundsources, and Patches) are updated to compatible versions. For example, if you're updating Keyscape Patches beyond v1.3c, ensure that your Software is at least version 1.5.0c and Soundsources are updated as well.
    6. Reinstall Using Download Manager:
      • If issues persist, reinstall Keyscape using the Spectrasonics Download Manager from your user account. This ensures a fresh installation with all necessary updates applied.
    7. Contact Spectrasonics Support:
      • If the problem continues, reach out to Spectrasonics support via email ([email protected]). Provide them with details about your system and the error for further assistance.
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue and successfully update your Keyscape library.
