Mainly for recording my music production. Electric and acoustic guitars, drums, bass, vocals etc. have no experience with any of the editing softwares so open to all suggestions.

 

You're looking for recommendations for audio or video editors? Doing audio production on a video NLE would be somewhat cumbersome. At any rate the two NLE's for video that I use are Adobe Premiere Pro and Blackmagic Davinci Resolve. Both very comprehensive and solid non linear editors for video. It takes a bit of computing power to make good use of them though.

 

R2R just released an update for Vegas today. Why don't you take that one for a test drive?

 

For me Vegas' learning curve was not bad - The interface and methods I consider more "old-school".
I'm just a hobbyist but like to try new things, and I've installed and played with most of what shows up in sister site.
I still have Premier, After-effects, Davinci Resolve installed, and I like to play with them , but I have not played with them enough to switch from Vegas when I want to actually do something. Usually it is basic editing and Vegas does the job.

The biggest issues I have are similar with others: Choosing rendering options.

 

Premiere Pro is the bees bollocks, or is that the dogs knees, can do everything you need plus more, still considered an industry standadrd i think.

Very simple intuitive programme, similar to a DAW in many ways, as you can have multiple tracks stacked up in collage fashion etc, there's nowt better. You'll be making polished vids in no time.

 

People always want to recommend whatever they use, even if it is 5-15 times bigger of a download. Some people like to just dive into the deep end of the pool because they know they are going to end up on whatever app. But some of them just forget what it is like to be beginners.

 

I’d recommend trying Movavi. When I began editing my own music performances, I found a lot of the big-name editors too complicated, but Movavi had a really simple interface that made it easy to trim clips, add transitions, and merge different video takes.
