I think Serum should cut features its a synth and not some arranger workstation - jack of all trades.
Nexus or Falcon wanna be, just to sell gigabytes of sample libs to the crowd but Serum looks rather weak against them

 

Serum is weak against Falcon, but its also not. You practically need an engineering degree to program falcon. You can learn Serum in an afternoon. Serum weak against Nexus is highly debatable. Maybe in the multi-sample department, i wouldn't really know, as i have not delved into that aspect in either. When it comes to actual synthesis, and ease of programming, Serum can run circles around Nexus. I say this as a fan of all the above.

Also, i somewhat agreed with you at first, but after digging in deeper, ive found some surprising uses for the clip launching within Serum.

 

Agreed. Its quite heavy for me as well. Ive already reported to them, and they have requested more info and for me to run some tests, so i have faith they will optimize it.

 

Each of the listed virtual software synthesizers has its own unique sound. Each of the listed virtual software synthesizers has its own merits. Comparisons between better and worse are neither fair nor meaningful.

I created two sound banks for the Falcon, and you don't need an engineering degree to create presets. Falcon is probably more for professional musicians. Falcon is high-end with many options for creating and shaping sounds. The Falcon sounds powerful and clear. The UVI engine is also high-end; it loads very quickly and sounds very clean.

Serum is a wavetable synthesizer that impresses with its sound, with a clear, simple interface and many options for shaping the sound. It is one of the top synthesizers. With the new free version 2, it has been further improved and continues to enjoy great popularity, thus ensuring its continued presence on the market.

If the Serum sounds too cold for you, you're better off with the Rob Papen - Predator, LennarDigital - Sylenth 1 or Sonic Academy - Ana 2.

1. Stretching algorithms for sample/multisample oscillator.

5. Actual VA oscillators and filters.
6. Rethinking convoluted routing: the direct output should be truly direct. Right now, its amplitude is still tied to the main output.

Make filter on/off switches a mod destination to "exploit"

 

Before the synth was released I imagined it would look similar to PhasePlant, with an infinite number of oscillators and effects, but I still want this and also more noise filters, and I would like a third filter in the master section. I would also like to have an equalizer in the mix section, one with or without mid and side effects, which is missing in my opinion. A whole series of everything has been taken from Serum 1 instance.

(the man must constantly open the old equalizer from the first instance to filter something to improve something this would lead to the CPU going up if you use several)

 

Can you elaborate on "proper frequency shifting"? The Bode effect rack seemed pretty good (has even more than a real Bode) but i haven't messed with it a lot

 

Echobode shifts both the left and right channels equally and does not convert a stereo signal to mono. The only thing that actually works well is "Blur," which is called "Smear" in the original Echobode plugin.

 

Oh thats interesting. the echobode plugin is a delay+frequency shifter though.

Bode refers to the original frequency shifter design in Moogs


I agree more stereo options and feedback routing would be interesting though. I have a Koszalin frequency shifter that has stereo inputs.


but in fairness thats not really what a simple Bode frequency shifter is supposed to be.

100% agree preserving stereo would be interesting

Steve, please add a better EQ! When I heard the announcement, I was expecting something on par with Minimal Audio’s Morph EQ. I know there's a new filter that does morph-style filtering, but the way Morph EQ works is just so good.

Also, this thing is a CPU monster. The original Serum set the standard for CPU efficiency, and people constantly compared Serum clones based on their performance.

Another major expectation I had was new unison modes, not just the ones in the new Serum. I was hoping for something closer to Ableton’s unison modes, like Shimmer or Noise mode.

I know these features probably won’t get implemented, but I’m leaving them here in case my queen, Steve Duda, decides to add them someday!

 

Serum Bode is a bode frequency shifter with a built in delay in a feedback loop
EchoBode is a delay plugin with a built in bode frequency shifter.

and after i made my last comment i realized it does have stereo in and up/down shifted like i was talking about



Not trying to argue with you, but just making sure you didnt think it was based on EchoBode

 

The Blur/Smear chorus effect actually makes me think that it is based on the original plugin in the first place.
